Jack's POV

"I need to stop loving him. It's not a petty crush anymore. I let it fester and now it's a full blown disease." Sarah started rubbing my back.

"Jack, first of all why don't you put some clothes on before my mom gets home. Second of all, I have two options; one, I can help you get together with Mark and two, go hang around with Felix to get your mind out of one gutter and into another."

"I want to go on that date with Felix. I think liking Mark is only gonna get me in trouble." I said pulling a long sleeved shirt and some jeans on.

"Okay. Good, good." I could see Sarah think. I'm not completely sure if she liked my choice even though she said 'good' but the wheels were definitely turning.

That night was very awkward. I tried asking Mrs. Fischbach if I could sleep in Sarah's room, but I got a big ol, "When you get a boyfriend" instead. Instead of sleeping in my undies, I slept in Pj's. I was reading stories on my phone wishing I was in those cheesy romance situations, but I'm obviously not. I scared me a bit when I heard Mark making his cereal. I didn't think it was that late already. He sat on his stupid chair and looked a little surprised when he saw me watching him.

"Hey Mark, I need a favor." This is gonna kill me. Marks head perked up and he hummed in response. "I have a date tomorrow at 4 and Sarah said she wanted you to drive me."

Mark sat there looking at me for a few seconds and then gave an answer. "...Yeah." It was quiet for a few moments before Mark spoke up again. "Oh yeah, I've been meaning to show you this awesome video." And before I knew it we were squished up against each other watching random Youtube shit. Yeah sure my heart was pounding so loud I felt like my ears were going to  burst, but If I can't handle it I don't know how this stupid little crush will go away.

I don't know when but sometime in the night I fell asleep. Luckily, I didn't wake up next to Mark. Awkwardly though, I woke up in a sitting position. I heard the coffee machine running and my nostrils immediately led me to the kitchen. Next thing I knew, I was being handed black coffee by a way too cheerful Mark. I took it and silently walked to the table.

"What? No 'Thanks Mark' or 'God, you're the best person ever Mark! Not even a 'Good morning'? Yeesh, what a buzzkill."

"Calm yer tits Mark. Thanks." He chuckled a bit and pulled out the chair across from me.

He cleared his throat and started to talk again. "So about this daaaate. Who's it with? What does he look like? Do you know If he's good in be—"

"MARK" I whisper-yelled so he wouldn't finish that sentence.

"Buzz kill!" He whispered back. I shook my head giggling a bit. He laughed quietly too and when I looked up we made eye contact and he smiled. Time went by and we were in the car on our way to the coffee place. Mark would keep looking back at me and then look away really quickly. It was odd. When we got there, Felix was leaning on a street light. He looked up as we pulled up and immediately went to go greet me. Mark coughed and turned my attention away from him.

"Ya okay?" I asked him.

"What? Oh, I'm perfectly fine don't worry about me." His goofy smile that he had the entire ride was gone, and he was eyeing Felix all the way over here.

"Oh, okay then. I'll call you when our date is over, is that alright?"

Mark sat there staring at the window for q few more seconds. "...No. You're gonna have to be done by 6. I have a...thing and that's when I'll be able to get you." Mark looked pretty stern, so I just nodded my head and was about to open the door before he caught my arm. "Be safe Jack." And he gave me a genuine smile. His warmth burned in my arm, but I soaked it in for a moment then pulled my arm free and got out of the car.

Felix immediately came over and gave me a huge hug. I heard the car engine rev and then drive away when he let go.

"You ready Jackarooney." Felix said with his hands still on my shoulders.

I took a big sigh and said, "Ready as I'll ever be." And we took off to go inside the coffee shop. It was small, warm, and I felt like I was going to explode.

Felix kept an arm around me for the beginning of the date, but I kinda got annoying as it went on. I remember smacking to the bathroom a few times just to get him off of me. He was incredibly romantic the entire time, buying me things left and right. When Mark called, he got really upset and begged me to stay longer. I couldn't, because honestly I wanted to see mark so badly. As his car pulled up I ran into the passenger seat. Mark looked at me with a concerned fact and back at Felix. He then drive off.

"Are you alright? You look like didn't want to be there anymore." Mark asked me.

"Honestly though, it was draining." I slumped in my seat. "He was all clingy and kept making me feel bad by paying all the time. See, it'd just be easier to date... Never mind. Anyway, physical dates are exhausting. I'm glad you had to do a thing."

"What?"

"What do you mean, 'what.' You said I had to be done early because you had a thing."

"Oh, I lied."

I blinked in awe. "You lied? Why did... Wha...."

"I lied because for all I've known you, you've never been on a date. I thought you wouldn't actually like it." Mark coughed and gave me a sideways glance.

"Well holy shot were you right." I sighed and leaned back into my chair.

A/N :HEYYYY. Yeah like nothing in my life has changed I'm just lazy. 💚
