I meet a vampire...with a donkey leg?

" You live in New York? " Percy asked confused, hold up did he seriously think I live at Hoover Dam? As if I camp out under a dam wall?. "What,you thought I lived at the Hoover Dam?" I asked,for a while Percy seemed in thought.Before I could ask him something, possibly forcing him to tell me what my dreams were about a guy whispered, " Hey, shut up. The cheerleaders are talking!" I turned and saw a blonde haired girl speak into a microphone, "My name is Tammi, and this is like, Kelli." she said as Kelli did a cartweel."

 At first when I saw them they seemed like your average dumb popular girls but when I looked at them closely I noticed tiny little details I didn't seem to see before. For instance, they had fangs and a donkey leg! They were one of those half vampire/ half horse/ donkey monsters and remembered a fact I learnt in Latin class, they were called empousai. I yelped ( don't judge me, I was basically face to face with a fictional monster that could tear me apart with just a punch! ). 

Some people looked towards me and snickered but I didn't care, funny how that happens when your in life/death situations. I stared at the cheerleader empousai  waiting for them to attack me at any moment. They didn't seem to notice my little outburst or didn't care because Tammi started talking about all the great ways we could get involved during our freshman year. Then the weirdest thing happened, I had something similar to a flashback, only that it didn't happen yet. 

I saw Tammi and Kelli trying to annihilate Percy while doing a cheer formation and waving their pom-poms. It was a horrid picture to see, even if I didn't see it yet, I had to stop it from happening. " Run." I told Percy knowing that if we stayed any longer we would get torn apart by empousai. " Now." " Why?" he asked me curiously, figures I thought, he doesn't see that their monsters. I didn't explain, mostly because if I did I would be wasting precious time that I could use by saving my life. 

I pushed my way towards the edge of the bleachers, ignoring the frowning teachers and grumbling kids I was stepping on. I hoped that Percy would follow, partly because I wanted him to survive but to be honest I really wanted to know the truth. He seemed to hesitate but then  got up and followed me out of the gymnasium. I was hiding in the band room, obviously because there were tons of giant instruments and closets to hide in.

" Get over here!" I said. " Keep your head down!" Percy crouched beside me and I took this as an opportunity to talk without interrupting. " Did they follow you" I asked, wondering how a monster could ever end up at Goode high-school. " You mean the cheerleaders" Percy asked me and I nodded nervously as a reply. " I don't think  so," Percy said, wow thanks I feel so much better now ( note the sarcasm ) " What are they? What did you see? ". " You...you wouldn't believe me." I said " Oh, yeah, I would," he promised " I know you can see through the Mist."
