Chapter One

Seraphina's POV

I sat on the edge of the cliff, mostly hidden by trees, my feet dangling over the edge. I had a perfect vantage point from here. Oh yeah, I should probably mention who I am! My name is Seraphina. I am 14 years old and I have long, straight blonde hair with no bangs and peridot green eyes (that is a very light shade of green, like the gem, peridot). Oh, and I should probably mention that I am a werewolf! Yep, that's definitely an important detail. I live in the forest outside of the villages, but I go in sometimes, and they just think I'm from another village. They don't know I'm a werewolf, because I'm never there on the full moon. But lately I've found this really cool place that I always go. It's almost like I feel drawn there, especially on the full moon. The werewolf realm is a very intresting, yet mysterious one. I can transform whenever I want.

I could see the castle in the distance from where I sat. I stood up and retreated back into the forest. You see, some of the time we live in little houses in the village and some of the time (if people suspect who we are) we live in well hidden caves deep in the forest. Yes, that's right I said we. There are other werewolves, besides me. Although, no one has suspected me of being the wolf, I still prefer being in the forest. All of the other werewolves come in the forest for the full moon, though. I walked through the forest, down a winding path to the caves. The afternoon light shone down as I walked up to the entrance of the cave.

Raven's POV

This was soooooo boring. All I was doing was sitting here, listening to mother ramble on about how lovely it will be when I finally get married! Like seriously, I'm 14. My goodness.

"Um mother may I please be excused?" I asked politely. Normally I wouldn't say it as nice, but I was in a good mood. I was going to go into the woods! I love the woods, it's like my only getaway.

"Of course!" replied my mother sweetly. I ran up the stairs and down hallways into my room. Oh, I should probably tell you about myself! My name is Raven. I am a princess. Yeah, it sounds so girly, doesn't it? Trust me, I did not ask for this. My mom just happens to rule over all the villages and tries to pamper my to death! I have long, straight black hair, with no bangs, and charcoal grey eyes (a very dark shade of grey that is almost black. I was wearing eyeliner and mascara. I stared into the mirror for a second (I'm not vain, don't judge me!) before stripping out of my really itchy blue dress that I hated. I stood there in my undergarments for a minute, before I dashed over to my dresser and grabbed the jeans that I took from my brother and then put on the jeans and a black t-shirt. I have no jeans, because my mom won't let me because apparently it's "unladylike"! Oh well. I grabbed my knife and I ran through the castle and out the back door into the sunlight.

"Watch out for the werewolves!" I heard my mom yell before I left. I rolled my eyes. Seriously? In the past (and recently) werewolves have been attacking towns. Apparently, they live in the woods or something, but I'm pretty sure some of them live in villages too. Plus, it's not the full moon yet, so I don't have anything to be afraid of. I ran down the hill and into the forest. The forest stretched for a very long way and I could just walk for miles! I remember when I was little and my dad (the king) would take me hunting in the woods. He gave me this silver knife when I was little and I always made sure it was clean and ready. Sometimes I hunted for the people in the village close to our castle because they weren't allowed in the forest (though some went in anyways and never got caught and they survived!). A lot of people were scared to go into the forest because of the werewolves, though. As I walked along, I found myself thinking more and more about my dad. He wasn't like most kings, he was very humble. He always took me hunting and showed me all kinds of edible plants. He taught me how to survive, he didn't treat me like "just another girl"! He didn't fear the werewolves and neither do I! I remember once I asked him about it.
