I cried all night. I felt awful and ashamed. I thought I might get my period soon.

All I could think about was how everything screwed itself up around me. Even other peoples relationships!

Suddenly I heard a knock on the window. I jumped and walked carefully towards the window next to my bed. I grabbed a baseball bat. I threw the curtains aside and exposed the face of Carl the Stalker.

I breathed irritated out and opened the window.

"Carl, what are you doing here you freak!" I snapped.

"Sorry," he said. "I just thought I'd come comfort you."

He smiled his gross smile again.

"Carl! I don't need you! Get lost!" I said.

"Natalie... I'm afraid I can't do that." Carl said with a sarcastic tone.

"Why the hell not?!" I yelled.

"Because you're obviously feeling blue, and I'm the only one who understand what you're going through." He started climbing in through the window.

I pushed him down again.

"Yeah, you are!" I snapped. "Wanna know why?"

He nodded.

"Because you're stalking me! Now go before I call the police."

Carl sighed and then climbed in the window again.

"Natalie. You know what?" he said and suddenly sounded angry for a change. "I'm not stalking you! I'm watching over you. There's a difference."

I rolled my eyes.

"Oh please, you're so not watching over me!" I barked. "You're following me for God's sake!"

"Believe what you want, but I am only protecting you." he said.

"I don't need protection! I need you to stay away from me!"

"As you wish." he said before leaving out my bedroom door.

I was confused.

As wad I the next day when I went to the kitchen to find Carl sitting by the table with my mum talking about puppies.

They were laughing and didn't seem to notice I came in. I tried to sneak to the fridge to find myself something to eat, but the fridge door was creaking and they both stared at me with big eyes.

"Good morning Natalie, did you sleep well?" my mum said.

She looked different today. She looked relaxed and not drunk or hungover for a change. It suited her.

"Uhm, yes thanks for asking." I said carefully. Those words felt odd coming from my mouth to my mother. Unusual.

"You're welcome." she said and smiled pleased to Carl.

"Carl, what are you still doing here?" I asked.

"You looked like you might need a friend" Carl answered.

"Well good thing you came then!" I said with my voice filles with sarcasm and irony. But Mum and Carl didn't seem to either care or notice.

"Carl is such a nice lad." Mum said to me and Carl smiled happily.

"I don't think so," I mumbled. "Mum, don't you think it's weird that he was here when you woke up? A bit creepy perhaps?"

Mum looked confused. "No, Carl wasn't here when I woke up, he rang the doorbell and explained the whole situation to me."

"Wait, what situation?" I snapped and sent Carl a deadly look.

"That you're in love honey!"she screamed. She smiled and revealed a lot more wrinkles.

"I'm not in love!" I said.

"Of course you're not." Mum said and blinked to Carl.

"God Mum. Can you ever understand anything?"

"Sorry?" she said.

"I'm leaving." I said and then left for school. Except I didn't go to school I went to London. I took my Mums car and drove.

I was meaning to go to Harry, but we weren't going to meet in 4 hours. So I parked my car outside his flat and waited.
