Lost (Slexie)

Chapter 2

Lexie woke up, her entire body ached. She slowly realized where she was, she was at a hospital... which means she survived. Lexie tilted her head, slightly scared, she only sighed with relief when she saw that all her limbs were still present. She searched for the nurses button and pushed it, this presented itself to be a hard task since she didn't have much strength in her body. A nurse came rushing in '' Miss Grey, how lovely to see you awake" she smiled, Lexie merely nodded '' Is everyone else o-okay?'' she asked, her voice still hoarse. '' I'm not sure, i can check for you'' replied the nurse with a friendly smile. Lexie nodded, and watched the nurse leave the room again. The second the nurse left, someone else came in '' Good afternoon, Miss Grey, how are you feeling?'' he asked, '' B-bit groggy'' sighed Lexie. '' Fairly understandable'' he smiled, '' I am Doctor Jeffrieson, i am your orthopedic surgeon. You had suffered major damage to your left arm and leg due to the crushing. We have managed to repair most of it and salvage both arm and leg. You will be needing some more surgeries, but if all goes well, you'll be back to a 100 percent in 6 months '' smiled the doctor. '' T-thank you'' smiled Lexie, '' the general surgeon will be in to see you shortly'' smiled the doctor before leaving. 

Mark was laying flat on his back, he felt that he was laying on something soft. And naturally the beeping of the machines, made him realize that he was in a hospital, he was safe. He felt okay, a bit sore but okay. A nurse walked into his room, '' Hello, how are you feeling?'' she asked. '' I'm okay'' nodded Mark, '' Good to hear, your general surgeon is very busy so i was asked to fill you in on what we did.'' said the nurse, '' You had some internal bleeding, which we fixed, and you also had a broken rib. So you will indeed be sore.'' she continued. '' And Lexie? how is she?'' asked Mark '' and Meredith, and Arizona, and Cristina, and.. Derek?'' he added. '' I've just been to see Lexie, she's had some extensive surgery, but she is awake and responding'' smiled the nurse, '' Meredith and Cristina have both been admitted to the psych ward, and Derek is still in surgery, i will check on Arizona for you now'' smiled the nurse. '' Oh, and we will be flying you back to Seattle tomorrow'' she added. '' Thank you'' nodded Mark. The nurse left, and Mark was left alone again. Or he thought, a distressed looking Miranda Bailey came rushing in, followed by Richard Webber . '' Mark, good to see you're okay'' smiled Richard, as he placed a soft hand on Mark's shoulder. '' We've just been to see Meredith and Cristina, they are both in shock'' stated Miranda, as she sighed. Mark nodded, '' i heard'' he sighed.

Lexie slept for awhile, but her dreams kept being interrupted by the crash. Arizona's screams just wouldn't leave her head, she massaged her forehead with her right hand. She felt exhausted, her entire body wanted sleep, except for her head. She pushed the nurses button and waited for a nurse to enter, '' Can you give me something to sleep, preferably dreamless'' sighed Lexie, Lexie saw the nurse look away for a second, before turning her head back '' Sure, honey'' smiled the nurse. The nurse left for a few minutes before reappearing with a syringe, ''I'll just insert this, and you'll get a good sleep'' smiled the nurse. Lexie nodded, and waited for the sleep to take her body over.

Mark was allowed to get in a wheelchair and visit Lexie and Arizona, Derek just got out of surgery and was still tight a sleep, and he wasn't allowed to visit Meredith and Cristina. Mark visited Arizona first. ''Hey there'' smiled Arizona, her smile weak. '' How are you?'' he asked, '' Have a leg infection'' sighed Arizona, her eyes watering. '' Might lose my leg'' she shrugged, as a tear roll down her cheek. Mark grabbed her hand and squeezed it tight '' Think about Callie, and that perfect daughter of us ; Sofia'' smiled Mark, Arizona nodded as she wiped the tears from her cheek. '' I'm so glad everyone's alive, i was afraid that Lexie..'' sighed Arizona, '' Yes i know'' nodded Mark, '' I'm actually going to go see her now, i'll see you when we're back in Seattle'' he added. Arizona nodded, squeezed Mark's hand and watched him roll away. 

'' Lex'' whispered Mark, he grabbed her good hand carefully and squeezed it. Lexie slowly opened her eyes, and looked aside. '' Mark'' she smiled, '' Oh i'm so happy to see those pretty eyes again'' smiled Mark, he softly caressed her cheek. '' Mark'' she said again, '' Yes i'm here'' smiled Mark. '' Do you really love me?'' she whispered, '' Did you not just say it because i was dying?'' she added, her voice sounding so fragile.  '' Lexie I love you, i have loved you since the day you came into my room, with the question that i'd teach you'' exclaimed Mark, Lexie chuckled slightly at the  memory of that.

They arrived back in Seattle that night, all their colleagues stared as they got wheeled in. Callie immediately rushed to Arizona's side, everyone of the victims were wheeled into a private room. Lexie immediately felt safer, being in the hospital where she worked. Seeing familiar nurses, and also catching all the gossip. Yet she was exhausted, she couldn't keep her eyes open for even 5 seconds. '' It's probably from the anesthetic , you received at the Boise Hospital'' stated Miranda, when Lexie asked about it.  ''It'll wear off soon'' she added.  Lexie nodded, and placed the blanket over her body, using her good arm. ''How is everyone else?'' asked Lexie, as she watched Miranda write on her chart. '' Mark is doing okay, Derek needs a nerve repair in his arm. Arizona has an infection in her leg. Meredith is being discharged today, she is doing better. Yet Cristina still won't talk'' rambled Miranda, all while writing on Lexie's chart.  Lexie hadn't seen Mark since they confessed their love for each other, and she was longing for his strong arms around her frail body.  ''Can i see Mark?'' asked Lexie, as she pushed herself up a little with her good arm.  '' Sure'' nodded Miranda, as she smiled. One of those rare genuine smiles Miranda rewarded you with.
