"Sleep"

I lay awake but behind my eyes
My dreams are telling me
There are no blue skies.
They have forsaken me.
I ask you not to understand,
But to overstand this:

The sky is a woman
And the moon is her kiss.
It's there to show us
What we don't want to know.
But her kiss will show us
What we need to know,
What we need to grow.
The sky is black and cold,
All but the moon and stars,
And they will light our way, no matter how old,
No matter how far.
Take this with a grain of salt,
If you truly distrust.
But take this with the ocean.
Believe me. You must.
