Heavy bass sounded throughout the dorms. For just one of the few days a year, nearly all college students met up to "live out the college experience". This was an especially important day for Peridot, a college freshman. It was her first college party, and if it went well, hopefully not her last, as she had hoped. After all, what's a better way to make friends than at a party filled to the brim with drunk and hormonal young adults?

Peridot ran a hand through her bleached blonde hair, smiling brightly at her reflection, and adjusting the cap atop her head. She checked for any last minute adjustments that needed to be made to her costume. She shot one last glance back at the empty room before locking the door and setting out to room 104. It's not like she needed a map in the first place, the music blasting from the speakers downstairs was just as helpful.

As she reached the front door, she heaved a heavy breath and knocked gently. A few minutes passed before her grin fell. She knocked harder.

"Jeez, I'm comin'," a girl opened the door and Peridot was greeted by lidded eyes and tired smile, "P-dot, you came!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah, of course, I'd come, Amethyst. I thought it would be...fun." Peridot glanced over the girl's brunette's head, and the sight of party chaos made her stomach churn. "Y'know what maybe I could come another time."

"Not so fast. You just got here!" she pulled the girl harshly through the narrow door. "You're gonna have so much fun. Don't even worry about it." The blonde wasn't too sure about that. "Yo, SC, get this girl a drink!"

A boy came by with a red Solo cup and nearly white hair that added an estimated two inches at least to his height. The concoction smelled strong—this was no ordinary Coke. With the cup in her hand, she allowed Amethyst to lead her through the sea of her intoxicated peers.

"Okay, Dottie, I gotta man the bar. I'll be back in a bit, don't have too much fun," she said with a giggle, leaving Peridot alone in the center of it all. Peridot's green eyes scanned the crowd, looking for any sign of a familiar face. Hell, she would've hung out with her annoying, stick-in-the-mud dorm-mate had she seen her. It seemed as though even Pearl had better things to do on Halloween nights rather than get drunk at a college party.

The blonde opted to at least try the drink in her hand, new experiences and all that crap. As soon as the coke-vodka mix hit her tongue shit quickly spit it back out into the cup. So much for a "fun party", she hadn't even liked the drinking part of it which made up at least 80% of parties. With all thoughts aside she needed to get that taste out of her mouth. So off the bathroom her journey carried her. With a bright green glow stick she snagged from the granite counter top she illuminated her way to the bathroom.

Fluorescent lights flickered on before casting the room in yellow light. She sighed, and slid down the door holding Percy's hat to her chest. Maybe parties just weren't for me, who said I even had to like parties in the first place? As she breathed through her mouth the aftertaste came back reminding her why she came to the bathroom in the first place. She cupped her hands and washed out the rancid liquid's remaining flavors.

From behind she could hear the door burst open. Well, there goes the little privacy she had. The sound of retching overpowered the muffled bass coming from outside. She glanced over at the figure. A girl leaned over the toilet and continued to puke chunks of whatever she had previously and stomach acid. Peridot loomed behind her, not quite sure of what exactly to do. A memory of her mother taking car of her popped into her head, she quickly rushed over to the girl's side, and she held her head back until she slumped against the white, porcelain toilet bowl.

"You okay there, bud?" she chuckled nervously. A groan echoed from the bowl. "Guess not."

The girl eventually pushed herself away from the toilet and slumped against the cabinet. Peridot still kneeled on the bathroom floor, tentatively stared back at the sick girl in front of her. She is rather pretty if not for vomit and drool running down her chin. That was another thing Peridot needed to help with. She carefully tried to wipe the fluids from her face with toilet paper. As she stared at the girl's face Peridot began to realize this girl was more than just pretty. She got a closer look and realized that the beneath the spray painted royal blue that covered her hair were deep shades of brown. As she looked even closer she could see small freckles that littered the tan girl's skin from her cheeks to the bridge of her nose. She realized she was way too close when the blue-haired girl's breath tickled her cheeks. She pulled back quickly, a dark blush covering her once pale cheeks.

The girl reached forward and wrapped her arms around Peridot. As if Peridot didn't think her blush could get any worse or warmer it just had to get worse. The girl hugging her nuzzled into Peridot's neck. Had it been anyone else she would've shoved them off and called them a creep, but this was't just anyone. Somehow she became special to Peridot in a span of twenty minutes.

"Thanks, Steven," she mumbled. Wait, what.

"Steven?" she stared wide-eyed at the cupboard in front of her. The girl pushed Peridot back.

"You aren't Steven. I think?" she squinted.

"I can assure you I'm not "Steven"." Well, there goes that love interest.

"Are you dressed up as Percy?" she questioned.
"Yep."

"Well that explains it, you both dressed up as the same person," she buried her face into her palm.

"I should go..." she trailed off.

"No, no, please stay, it was totally my bad," she urged, "anyways you're kinda really cute." Peridot's face heated up, and the blue-haired girl snorted before breaking out into laughter.

"I-I'm pretty sure your boyfriend would not like you saying that."

"Boyfrien- Wait no, no Steven is not my boyfriend. Anyways I'm gay as hell." Peridot nearly jumped up out of joy, she tried to keep completely cool. With all of the bullshit that's ruined her Halloween night she was ready to take some risks.

"Do you wanna come to my dorm and watch Camp Pining Hearts with me?" she asked quickly. God, I hope this goes well.

"Uh, I'm not too sure that's safe with me not even able to stand on my own, how do I know you won't try anything?" she questioned.

"Well I haven't tried anything yet, not to mention I have a dorm-mate, and you're sober enough to make safe choices," she looked into the girl's eyes and smiled gently, "It was just an offer, I'm not forcing you to do anything you don't want to."

"I don't even know your na-"

"Peridot, my name is Peridot," she shoved a hand out and the girl shook it tiredly.

"Lapis Lazuli, but just call me, Lapis, please."

"Lapis, it is." She smiled and helped Lapis up from the bathroom floor, acting as a support when her feet wobbled from underneath. As they walked backed out the door with Peridot guiding her out, wolf whistles and congratulations were loud enough to go over the music. Peridot chuckled to herself as they made their way out the party's atmosphere and reentered the quiet hallways of the dorm room. They really have no idea what we're actually doing.

As soon as they entered Peridot's dorm, she first helped Lapis to the couch setting up the tapes to her beloved tv-show. She got up to make snacks and get Lapis a sprite to soothe whatever was going on in her stomach. "Have you ever watched Camp Pining Hearts before?" she called from the small kitchen.

"Nope, I've heard Steven talk about it a bunch before, though."
"Well lemme just say Percy and Pierre are the superior ship and I will kick you out flat on your ass if you say you like that good for nothing asshole, Paulette," Lapis laughed, "Kidding of course."

An hour into the show and Lapis was absolutely hooked, but by the second hour she could barely keep her eyes open, and fell asleep to the sound of one of Peridot's rants about how unrealistic and forced Paulcy was. She realized Lapis had fallen asleep as she slumped against her shoulder, and soft snores filled the dorm. She carefully wrapped her arms around Lapis's waist and pulled the blanket that once laid forgotten on the living room floor over their bodies. Lapis snuggled into Peridot's chest, and she let a content sigh escape her lips.

"Happy Halloween, Lapis."
