I walk onto the bus and gag. It smells like and uncleaned cats litter box. I feel a little nauseous, but then get used to it. I have found after years of riding the same bus that your nose gets used to the smells around you. Meaning when I get into the bus, my nose will experience the shock of that putrid smell then soon I will not smell it at all. Now when I get into the bus the fist thing that greets me is the smell, like I explained. Then the next thing to greet me is my child, Tyler. Now I know it sounds weird to call him my child, but hear me out. When we first met I had to sit with him on the bus because all the other seats were taken. I pulled out my I pad and started playing a game, he looked over at me and said "My sister has that game" and since I didn't want to be rude I replied with "Oh really?" Then he went on explaining how many levels she had defeated and how he had always wanted to play, but she never let him play. I took that as a hint and let him play for the rest of the ride. On the next day I had to sit with him again, but this time I did not play my I pad. I realized things would get very awkward if I didn't do something now, so I struck a conversation. He told me that he was in Second grade, and I told him I was in Seventh. We just proceeded like that asking each other questions then answering them. Pretty soon I found it a bit weird that there were never any seats for me to sit alone and that Tyler never sat with a boy his age or with my brother. I asked him about it and he told me he took the last empty seat on purpose, He apparently liked sitting by me and I took that as a big complement. From then on we became something special. It would be kind of weird to call him my friend since we are five years apart, so I'll call us acquaintances. After a wile I realized that he looked up to me very much and thought to myself "I guess I am kind of like a mentor for him." After that I became like a sister to him.
