Chapter Two

Dinah's POV

"Can I pick you up?" She nodded and held her arms up. I placed her on my hip and she put her head on my shoulder. I started my way back home completely forgetting about my ice cream. She held on to the back of my shirt like she was holding on for dear life .
'What mother would leave their child on the streets alone at night?' I thought to myself.
I unlocked my door and walked in with the mysterious little girl still in my arms.
"Are you hungry?" I ask sitting her in the kitchen counter. She looked at me and nodded. I started looking through my refrigerator and grabbed an apple. I cut the apple in pieces an put some peanut butter on the plate.
"Do you need help?"
"Yes pwease," she says.
I place her on my lap and gave he an apple slice with peanut butter and she took it and are it. I got her to eat four apple slices before she said she was finished.
"Okay, we should get you in the bath before bed" I told her she looked at me with fear in her eyes. I picked her up and went to my bedroom. Luckily, I still had some of Gina's old clothes for when they came to visit. I grabbed some underwear and one of my T-shirts. I walked in the bathroom starting the bath making sure it wasn't too hot or too cold. I then picked her up from my bed and placed her on the toilet lid.
"Okay sweetie, it time to get in" I say turning of the bath water.
"Do you need help with your clothes?" I say trying my best not to make her uncomfortable. I began take off he clothes tilde was completely naked. Then, I put her in tub.
"Wanna see something cool?" I asked trying to get her to be less tense. I picked up a bathe bomb and place it in the tub.
"Woahhhhh. It bwubbles!" She said excitedly clapping.
"How old are you?"
"Mommy twold me I only this many" she says holding up two fingers.
"That's so cool. It's time to get ready for bed now " I said picking her up and drying her off. I put sine clean clothes in her and waked in my room.
"Dj " I hear her soft voice ask .
"Yes"I say looking back at her her"
"Are you going to sweep with me ?"
"Of course sweetie." I say as I climb into the bed with her and pull the covers over us.
"Goodnight. Try to get some sleep"
When I hear her breathing even out I slowly drift off to sleep.
