All of this is based on a true story. The matter of fact is, this is my story. When I was three, I asked a simple question to my Auntie. "What do you do under a mistletoe?" Who knew I would regret running away from that question many years later.

It was a very cold and windy day here on Oaken's Street. Leaves were dancing and swirling around in the air, rose petals were scattered everywhere, and three year old Alyssa was snuggled up with a cozy blanket over her Aunt's guest room. Although, she was not asleep- if some of you assumed that. She lied awake, staring upon the blank ceiling above her. Alyssa did not feel the need to move or to get out of bed, for it was too cold. She had nothing else to do but to lie awake in bed.
Her parents had dropped her off at her Aunt's house just about an hour ago. Everytime, her parents tell her to take a nap and rest because Alyssa would always wake up so early in the morning. 5:00 a.m., to be precise. She did in the beginning. She took naps two sometimes even four hours long. Alyssa was surely a heavy sleeper.
Soon, she got used to waking up so early in the morning that from that day foward, she didn't take any naps. Now, this was she and her Aunt's sercret. After the whole routine of hugs, kisses, and waves of goodbyes from her loving parents, she would go back to the mickey mouse bed and secretly watch t.v. Only her Aunt (and Uncle!) knew about this. This was fine with her.
Alyssa tugged her Winnie the Pooh blanket over her body more. She felt as if the room was getting colder by the minute. She rotated her body to the left. On the brown chair handel next to her she saw the t.v. romote. Maybe I'll watch t.v.? Thought she. Her shoulders shurgged. She reached out with her petite right hand and snatched the black romote off the chair's handel. What's the time? Her gaze switched focus on the medium sized clock to the left of the t.v. 6:28. Almost 6:30.
She cracked a mini smile. A lot of her favourite shows play in the morning. Such as Full House, which she clearly remembered started at 6:45 on Nick. Alyssa absolutely love to watch Full House. She admired Stephanie, Michelle, DJ, Kimmy, and Rebecca so much, that she wanted to be like them when she grew up. She also wanted to have an Unlce like Uncle Jesse. Alyssa thought that Uncle Jesse was a cool Uncle to have.
Now what was Nick channel's number? 29? No. 31? Close, but no. Ah ha! 33! With the black remote clutched in her hand, she pointed the remote towards the t.v. and pressed the number three two times. The channel swicthed from Fox 5 news to the opening song of Full House. Usually Alyssa would sing along to the lyrics; she would even dance sometimes! But not today. It was too cold, and she didn't want to give up her warmth underneath her soft, cozy blanket.
It was exactly a week and two days before Christmas. Everyone the city of San Francisco was excited. Christmas--after all only--comes once a year. Alyssa was already prepared for Christmas. She is wishing to recieve five things for Christmas this year. A stuffed animal (bunny), a barbie doll, a beautiful red dress, new shoes, and new hair-ties. Just the regular things a three year old wants. The most thing she desired the most was to have a stuffed animal bunny. With its long white ears flopping around, a tiny bow-tie on his neck, bold black eyes, a light pink nose, and soft, white fur was her ideal kind of bunny. Alyssa is curious if Santa has such a precious gift. Without getting a bunny for Christmas this year, she will not be content.
Alyssa's parents never put her in preschool. She learned her Alphabet and counting through Elmo's World and Seseame Street. She also learned a bit of Spanish words from watching Dora so much.
She was never the shy type. Speaking out her opinion was her middle name. What Alyssa loved doing the most was to make people laugh. One of the people she loved to see smiling and laughing was her Aunt. The both of them had a special bond. They got along like no other niece and Aunt had. You could say they were as close as two peas in a pod.
It was now 25 minutes into the show and based by the recent commercials, they were having a Full House marathon until 12:00 p.m. She didn't exactly know what marathon meant or what it has in it, but based on the little reminders on the show saying: Next: Full House, After: Full House, Then: Full House, she had a thought that a marathon is something that plays more than one time.
Outside, it was somewhat more warm and sunny now. Even though the clouds cover up the sun almost every ten minutes, Alyssa could surely notice a sudden change in the climate. She finally had the courage to sit up from bed. So, she sat up, stretched, yawned, and rubbed her eyes. Her fingertips traced the head of mickey mouse on the bed sheet she had once been laying on. "You got it, dude!" She heard Michelle say to her dad, Danny, before running off into the living room. Alyssa giggled.
"Ally?" This was her nickname. "Are you awake? I cooked some food for you, piggies in a blanket." She could imagine the smile her Aunt had on her lips. "Just come out whenever you're ready, ok?"
Right on cue, her stomach rumbled. As she looked from her stomach to the door, she decided to make her choice. Alyssa was starving. The fact that she doesn't have enough time to eat breakfast in the morning, it's definitely her time to eat now. Alyssa grabbed the remote next to her and pressed the power button on the top left corner. She jumped off the bed and thumped onto the floor with her arms flinging up in the air.
Eating time was near.
