-------------------------------------------

i woke up on saturday morning early. it was still dark out. i turned over and looked at my clock.

00:00.

i figured i was just tired and closed my eyes again. i woke again at what was around noon. i checked the clock.

06:66

that wasn't an actual time. I was fully awake now.

"honey come downstairs. your breakfast will be cold," my mother said in her singsongy voice from the floor below me. i walked down the narrow hallway where my stairs were and peeked around the wall into the kitchen.

i didn't see my mom.

in the kitchen, back towards me, was a tall, slim figure in black, torn clothes. rugged red hair lay on its back, all the way down to its waist.  in its bony, pale hand was a cake knife.

the one my mother always used to cut the cake on my birthday.

today.

the cake, frosted pink, sat on the counter. splats of red covered it. the cake knife was covered in blood.

stunned, i watched as the thing walked to the cake and grabbed a fistful of it, shoving it in its mouth. when it moved, it revealed my mother, face down on the floor. her apron was covered in crimson. i saw her chest heave in an attempt to breathe. the thing came back to her, notcing she was alive, and rose the cake knife. it stabbed her. i counted silently, to scared to do anything else, to scared to run to my room and lock the door.

it stabbed her 666 times.

the stair i was standing on creaked. i jolted behind the wall and pressed my back to it, squeezing my eyes shut and sending a silent prayer up to god.

i opened my eyes to see it in front of me.

it had huge, bulging eyes, a smile that was literally ear to ear, the skin ripping away around it.

i screamed.

that was my mistake.
