Unspeakable.
Bryce sat on his couch with his hands folded together as he thought of what he could say to his boyfriend about wanting to split up. It was going to be another long day though. For the only sound in the room seemed to be the sound of the fan squeaking above his head and the tv's static roar.
His mind was absent.
The smell of cookies dented the room from last nights meal and dessert while the sound of a dog snoring and a squeaking fan filled the room. It never once interrupted Bryce's thoughts though. For he had blocked everything that involved taste, touch, sense, and feel.
Bryce finally snapped out of it when the dog barked loudly at the front door. His blue eyes jerked to see the knob twisting causing a wave of nervousness to rush through his body. He turned his gave back to the static tv which played no show.
"Hey Bryce," Jonathan's voice rang. "What's wrong with the tv?"
Bryce took a moment to answer as he thought over how he was going to tell his boyfriend he wanted a break. His heart pounding in his chest he finally answered, "It's messed up." Jonathan seemed to have looked over the crack in his voice and gave a small shrug. "We can get it fixed in a few days. I get my check Friday." Bryce only stayed silent.
When he caught glimpse of his boyfriend heading to the kitchen he decided now was the time to do it. Pulling himself to his feet he made his way to the back and seen his boyfriend grabbing a glass. "Hey Jonathan," he began, leaning against the table. "I think we should take a break.." He watched as Jonathan froze with the carton of apple juice in his hand, blue eyes locking with his. "From?"
"Each other."
Bryce watched as Jonathan calmly poured himself a glass of apple juice, blue eyes tearing from his. The room became silent and filled with dangerous tension that needed to have a sign posted up on it. "Why's that Bryce?" He asked through clenched teeth.
"I just think we do..at least until I can get s new job.."
"I don't think that's it Bryce. I mean hell, I know you've been wanting to go to school and get your degree to become a doctor so why not do it here? With me?" Jonathan asked as he glared at the blonde boy in front of him. That glare was enough to send shivers down the poor boys spine, "Jonathan it's just until I get a job! I mean we're running off of the small amount we got now and can't even afford to buy the stuff we need..!" Jonathan slammed his fist on the table which caused Bryce to flinch and fall silent, his eyes widen with fear. "No! You want to go to school? Then fine! But I'll be damned if I let you walk out on me you hear?!"
Bryce just stared at his boyfriend who was glaring daggers at him and holding his fist which was clenched still. The blonde managed to swallow the lump in his throat and say, "O-Okay.." without breaking into tears. Sometimes he questioned how he could love someone like Jonathan. Especially when he was like he was now and other nights.
Bryce left the kitchen at that and walked to their office where he shut the door softly behind him. Leaning against it he let himself slide down it until he was holding the back of his head with his hands. Tears falling.
Suddenly the sound Skype going off echoed through the room and he jerked his gaze up, eyes puffy and red. He pulled his trembling body up from the floor before slowly approaching the computer. His eyes widen when he seen the Ohm symbol flashing on the screen, "Ohm?"
Bryce sat down in the chair and gave a sniff before putting in Jonathan's ear piece and answering the call. "Ohm?" His voice was rough from his sobbing but that didn't stop him from talking.
"Hey Bryce!"
"Hey, is something wrong?"
"Not really. I just wanted to talk to someone and Michelle was asleep."
"Oh okay."
"You okay man? You sound upset."
Bryce looked around the room as he listened to how silent the man on the other line became. "Uh," he choked out. "Yeah. I just um, haven't been feeling well." It was a lie that should've never been spoken but he couldn't tell someone he didn't know that well his problems. Who on earth would ever do that right?
"Oh okay. I hope you get better man. Sounds pretty serious."
"Thanks. So how was work?"
"Dude it was great! So there's this guy named Brock who is best friends with the boss, Brian. Actually scratch that..they are in some sort of relationship. Anyways, he tripped over some wood and splattered paint all over him! It was so funny!"
"I bet. What did Brian do?"
"He got so pissed he nearly fired him on the spot. I mean lucky for Brock they live together and have something going on."
"Right."
"How was your day at work?"
"Oh I don't work."
"You don't? Why?"
Bryce bit his lip as he remembers what Jonathan did to get him fired. It wasn't long ago either, more like three days ago. Bryce was talking to his friend named Ritz when Jonathan came in and just flat out attacked him because he had found out that the man was crushing on him. "Boyfriend kinda got me fired.."
"Oh that must suck. I'm sorry to hear that."
Bryce shrugged even though he knew the other couldn't see it. "Eh, it's okay. Im going to get a job at the coffee shop until I can get my online degree." He listened to the other whistle on the other line. The two then got onto another subject.
Jonathan listened outside the door but didn't say a word. His blue eyes flickering with the light of the computer screen.
