Forks are weird

The girl's sides rise and fall evenly, a soft content smile upon her lips as she dreams soundlessly, the twin white cat ears upon her head twitching as she sleeps.

A shadow stands before the open window, blocking out some of the gray light that slowly slinks across the sky, the edge of the sun peeping over the horizon casts long shadows across the streets below.

Miles' glittering silver eyes peer at the feline turned human, the vampire has never seen something like this before, an animal turning into a human being?

Even for a vampire it sounded like a far-fetched story, his shimmering gaze drinks in the sight of the undisturbed town and he raises a hand to grip the cloth of his shirt.

There's something wrong about the air, an inkling of something foul seems to drift on the breeze and the vampire grasps the dark curtains firmly in his hands and draws them closed just as his companion stirs among the sheets.

"Miles...." He turns his attention to the girl, drinking in her pale form nestled amongst his covers, her frame covered by a old shirt of his.

He swallows thickly at the image and feels a tug within his chest that makes him feel dizzy, Aiea rubs at her sleep crusted eyes and stretches her slim arms above her head.

"Why are you up early? You should be sleeping," Miles grins openly, flashing a glimpse of his sharp canines, "you know I have not grown accustom to sleeping during the day," he states as he takes a seat upon the edge of the bed.

A low purr rumbles behind him and the vampire jerks a little in surprise as a white haired head brushes against his arm, Aiea rubs her head happily against the man's arm, kneeling on all fours as her tail sways.

"Humans don't purr," the girl falls forward and nearly slips off the bed, Miles stands near the bedroom door his gaze trained on the window.

"I can't help it," Aiea grumbles as she turns to peer at the window, "What is it?" She questions confused at the tension that serms to radiate off him in waves.

"There's something out there," He answers shortly as a soft growl fills the air, the two share confused looks before another louder growl sounds from Aiea's stomach.

"Oh! I'm hungry," She marvels as she prods her stomach, "Humans make the strangest sounds,"

Miles doesn't bother to fight back a small bark of laughter,  "I can cook you something, cat food might not fit your tastes anymore,"

"I will still eat the wet food," She states firmly, her tail twitching.

Miles watches curiously as Aiea studies her plate intently, he had made her pancakes and some bacon after she insisted that cat food would still taste just fine.

Now the feline turned human is glaring at her fork with so much hatred he's afraid it might burst into flames.

"Why do humans use tools to eat? They have thumbs for a reason," She points out, wiggling her newly aquired digits for emphasis.

"Humans don't want their hands to get messy, or sticky," The vampire explains calmly, leaning his chin into his palm as Aiea picks up the fork.

The girl viciously stabs the top pancake before lifting the whole thing her mouth, smearing syrup on her chin and around her mouth as she takes a huge bite.

"Ish gwood!"

The immortal bows his head and fights back laughter as Aiea continues to devour her breakfast.

"You're the messiest human I've ever seen," Miles leans over the table to wipe at the girl's face with a towel.

"Am not! I can clean myself!" She pushes at his arm but he continues to dab up the syrup plastered to her cheeks and mouth.

"I almost got it," He assures her as she settles for glaring at him, pouting as he scrubs a little harder at a spot on her chin.

"Don't give me that look.....I'm helping,"

Aiea sticks her tongue out and he sits back, ignoring her gesture as she pats at her cheeks, searching for any sticky residue he missed.

Satisfied she turns her gaze to him, ears perked forward as she tilts her head, "You're giving me that look again,"

Miles blinks, "Huh?"

"That weird deep look, you're doing it again," Aiea points a slim finger at him and he picks up a nearby fork.

"I was just thinking about how weird forks are, that's all,"
