one year after the events of season one
[jonathan pov]
I walked up to Nancy's house and rang the doorbell, stuffing my hands into my jean pockets due to my nervousness.
Nancy makes me nervous.
She's so beautiful, and why she likes me is still a mystery.
Yet here I am, at her doorstep, picking her up for a date.
A date.
When I had first asked her out and she had said yes, I was shocked. She had just broken things off with Steve a week ago, but I figured I'd take my chance. And she said yes. So here I am, at her doorstep, waiting for the most beautiful girl in my world to answer the door.
The door opened, and there she stood. Dressed in a light pink sweater and high-waisted jeans, she took my breath away. Her hair was in ringlets around her face, and she smiled at my jaw-dropped expression.
She reached out with her soft hand and gently shut my mouth.
"Wouldn't want you to catch any flies, Byers." She said with a wink.
Shaking my head to snap out of the trance she put me in, I grinned at her and offered my hand.
"You look beautiful as always." I said as her small hand slipped into my large one.
I could see her blush from the corner of my eye as I walked her to the passenger side of my 1972 Ford LTD and opened the door for her.
"Thanks, you too." She mumbled shyly as she retracted her hand from mine and got in the car.
I let out a laugh as she realized she had called me beautiful, and she blushed even more. I shut her door and walked around to the drivers' side, getting in and heading to the Hawk, Hawkins' very own movie theater.
This'll be a fun night.

"Two tickets for the 9 o'clock showing of Footloose, please." I said to the man working the ticket counter, handing him a 5 dollar bill. He handed me two tickets and Nancy and I walked hand in hand into the theater, handing the usher our tickets and finding that the theater was empty. We walked up and sat in the middle of the very top row.
"Thanks for asking me out tonight." Nancy said once we were settled. Our faces were close, seeing as we had both turned our heads to talk. My eyes flickered down to her lips.
"No problem. I'm having fun so far." I said, entranced by her.
She leaned in, and I leaned in, and before either of us knew what was happening, our lips touched.
I reached up and cupped the side of her face, turning in my seat so that I could get to her easier. She turned and placed her palms on my chest, lightly gripping my The Clash t-shirt. I tilted my head to get a better angle, and our lips moved in sync with each other.
This is amazing.
We broke apart when we heard the opening credits play, turning to watch the movie.
And for the rest of the night, I couldn't stop smiling.
