I took a deep breath and entered Mr. Han's office quietly, keeping my eyes down.

He was...gorgeous? What the hell? Why didn't Jahee mention that?

I felt my face grow red. Geez, again?

He had an odd air about him as well, kind of tense yet calm at the same time. It was hot...

"PAY ATTENTION!" my subconscious hissed yet again, making me inwardly cringe. I was starting to ogle, was I?

"Ms. Hale?" He finally spoke without looking up from his papers, his hand had been stretched towards me...

Oh right! My résumé!

"Oh, I'm sorry" I mumbled, quickly handing it over. He motioned for me to sit in the chair that set before his desk. I quickly did as I was told, not wanting to make this any more awkward.

"So, Ms. Hale. Why exactly do you want to be my assistant?" He asked after a moment of looking over my résumé.

"Well..." I trailed off, but he interrupted me. "Ms. Hale, please look up when you talk to me. I like seeing a person's face when they speak."

"Oh, yes sir. I'm sorry" I apologized again, geez this wasn't going so well. I looked up and our eyes met, I fought off the burning feeling in my cheeks.

I remember Jahee telling me he was emotionless and practically a robot but looking at him, his eyes told me he was lonely...

Why did that hurt my heart?

"Thank you" I said quietly, without a smile. I nodded and started over, pushing away the thoughts that were bubbling up.

"Well, if I'm being honest... I just moved here and I really need a job. Jahee was actually the one who suggested I place my application. She seemed to think it would be a good fit." I explained in a quiet voice, he nodded.

"Yes, Kang did give you a rather high recommendation, but it looks like you haven't had much experience?" he commented, looking over my résumé once more as we spoke.

"Well, not exactly. I mean, I do have experience. I worked as my father's secretary for almost eight years"

"Your father? Oh yes, it says here that he owns a small company in Texas. I'm not sure if that amount to experience though" he trailed off, irritating me a little. What does that mean?

"Excuse me?"

"Well, honestly, I'm trying to decide how much experience you've actually acquired. I have to take into consideration that your only boss has been your father. " he explained, still not bothering to look at me.

Okay, now my buttons are a pushed. Eight years is a long time to work for anyone, and he didn't know my father.

"Uhm... Excuse me for being frank, but I think that's a bit hypocritical."

"Excuse me?" he said, finally looking up at me. I could tell by the look on his face that I had surprised him.

Foot in mouth.

But I was already heated.

"Well, you're assuming that I've no real experience because I worked with my father. But isn't that what you've done? Can I presume to believe you've no real experience either?" I challenged, for the time being I had no problem staring him down.

About ten seconds later I realized what I had done and dropped my eyes back to my lap. "I-Im sorry, Mr. Han. I spoke out of term" I apologized for the third time in less than an hour.

Maybe McDonald's is hiring?

He held a hand up as if to silence me. I tilted my head in response.
