He watched her walk away, watched the way her body showed her pain, even though her smile before she turned away did not. The winter had made her dark hair darker. He knew that his actions were hurting her, he even knew that his words would cut deep. He also knew she was far too good for him. Her innocence would be corrupted by the darkness inside of him. He knew that, and so he did the best thing he knew to do; pushed her away.
