"Mom, I'm going to go hang out with john." Lucas said as he grabbed his jacket and walked out the door. "
I ran towards the phone and dialed the simple number: (512)987-8009. The phone seemed to have rang forever but finally a woman picked up.
"Welcome to Harold's Office, serving 24/7, how may I help you?" the woman asked. Her tone was plain, which obviously showed that she didn't enjoy her job... "Um, yes I would like to reserve a special appointment with Mr. Harold please." I asked trying to find a spare pencil.
"May I ask who this is for?" the woman replied. "oh yes it is for my son, Lucas, he is newly returned from the army and he is having some problems." I said sighing at the fact. "Ok, I can reserve an appointment for you tomorrow at 2:30, will that be ok?" the woman asked, a sigh of relief knowing that the conversation was soon going to be over. "Ok, thank you for..." I stuttered, she hung up on me!! she actually did! I slammed down the phone in frustration then dialed Lucas's number to tell him to head home.
This is what I heard: Oh my gosh Mom!! John is dead and I don't know what happened, I came in and he was just dead on the floor! please come, all I found was a prom tiara.
I dropped the phone (once again) ran at the door trying to find Lucas.
Once I finally found John's house Lucas was laying on the grass, he wore a shocked expression on his face. "Lucas, I'm sorry I couldn't come earlier..." I said.
"Oh, It's ok, we figured it out." He murmured. He turned his head ever so slightly so that I barely came to view. "How?" I asked panting from the long run I took trying to help Lucas. "Oh, the police came and helped us sort it out." Lucas explained with a straight face. "All we found was a Pink prom tiara. Lucas seemed to have shiver at the word.
It was finally tomorrow and we sat in the doctors office awaiting Mr. Harold. "Lucas please go to room 119." The voice on the speaker said.
We walked down the hall to room 119, Mr. Harold was sitting on the chair next to the desk. Mr. Harold is a very short man with messy blond hair. "Welcome Lucas... Please come in." Lucas and I walked in and sat down. "So Lucas what has been the problem?" Harold asked. "Well, I just returned from the army..." "Oh! congratulations." Harold said.
"I hear voices in the wall, I have seen her." Lucas murmured. "Um, right... can you explain who this girl is?" Harold asked, jotting notes down. "Well, before I went to the Army I took a beautiful girl to prom, Her name Alea, So you know we went to prom and danced all night." Lucas explained.
"Then she said she would be right back and she never came back, I went looking for her and found her dead in the science room." Lucas said trying not to choke up.
"Then people found me holding her and thought that I had killed her..." Lucas explained.
"Oh..." Harold said.
"So, I went to the army to try and start over." Lucas finished as he wiped his eyes, trying to conceal the tears. "So, what does she have to do with all of this?" Harold asked. "Well, I keep on seeing her, well apparently she believes that I killed her or some one close to me killed her..." Lucas explained.
I sat there in awe wondering how he could remember all of this, it was as if he was still in the moment.
"Well, I think its all in your head, hallucinations, It is common in return soldiers." Harold explained. he quickly turned around and typed something on his computer. "Here take these." Harold said. he handed Lucas a bottle of pills. "Take 2 every day, and come to me in about a week if your still having these problems." Harold said setting down his clipboard.
I stood up and motioned to Lucas to come on.
"So, how did you meet Alea?" I asked as we hopped into the car and started to drive home.
"Well, when we were freshman we had all of our classes together, and I thought well If were going o have classes together for the rest of the year I may as well meet her... so I started to talk to her." Lucas sighed.
"and we fell in love, but I guess it all went down hill when prom was over." Lucas said playing with his shirt.
"Well, how com I never met her?" I asked.
"You did mom, she came over the day we met..." Lucas said, giving me a puzzling look.
"Oh, right." I murmured.
I had never met this girl, never knew that this was the reason he went to he army, when did this all happen?
