Hey.
So, I decided to start with what I guess I would call the root. Sadness just branches out and creates all these other negative emotions, like stress, anger, and sometimes even more severe cases of sadness, known as depression.
Now, I know you might be someone who's like "Uh! This 'Jay' person knows literally nothing about what I'm going through!" but it may be worth listening to a few tips, even if you think you are under control.TOPIC: Hurting Yourself/Others
Many people have resorted to hurting others or themselves as a way to let out their negative emotions. From what I have gathered, you will either: A) regret it, B) feel worse, or C) all of the above. Sure, this has never crossed your mind, but it may one day and you may seriously consider hurting someone. You need to find a way to deal with it, but how?Read
For me, reading has always helped calm my mind down because when the book has a good plot line, it can really take your mind into a different place! A few books on Wattpad that I would suggest are The Letter, Sweet as A Strawberry, and The Trouble With Kissing Connor. (In case you were curious, the 1st book is a Thriller/Mystery; the 2nd and the 3rd, both Rom-Coms). Now, this may not work for some of you. Even after reading, you may still feel upset.Draw/Paint/Do Something Artistic
If reading didn't help, then you might want to try a different approach. Draw whatever it is that is making you angry, or sad, or whatever negative thing you're feeling. I mean, if you're really angry, try drawing what you could do to stop it. It doesn't have to be a peaceful solution so long as you don't take action on whatever you painted/drew. (What I'm trying to say is don't murder anyone!) What I mean by paint what you're feeling is MASH the brush if you're angry- PAINT RED ALL OVER! If that's how you feel inside, then go for it! Sadness, it might be a softer, light blue or grey color with smooth strokes, with random dark slashes here and there... at least that's how I imagine my sadness!Watch Videos
RULE #1: Do NOT watch vent MAPS/MEPS/WHATEVERS when you're upset. It just makes it worse. At least that's my experience... Anyway, I suggest channels like Buzzfeed, Domics, and Watchwellcast. I like to watch channels that either give me interesting facts and opinions, make me laugh and say that is so relatable, or help explain my feelings. Speedpaints really interest me, but maybe it's just because I'm into art.Meditation
I know this may sound stereotypical, but meditating really does help. From my experience, I felt very relaxed and calm. I don't really know how else to explain it. One time, I was overwhelmed because I was moving and I just searched "depression help" or "stress help" or "meditation website." Something along those lines.Wrapping It Up
To be honest, it was hard for me to write about sadness without branching off into stress, anger, etc. Now, a few key things to remember whenever you're feeling negative emotions. One: do not resort to hurting yourself or others. Two: Reach out to someone. I know, I know it's super hard to talk to people about how you're feeling and you may think you will be a burden to others, but trust me, it's better to get help than to live in sadness and with a scar you regret. Three: relax, take deep breaths. Calm yourself down and think about things logically without a cluttered mind.Well, my name's Jay, and that's all I have for today!
