Moonpaw - by Feathermoon
A thin wisp of mist travelled through the den. It danced in the air. I sat up and watched it swirl above the sleeping cats. The morning air was cold, it sent shivers across my body. I stretched out my hind quarters and carefully padded outside. My breath came out as a mist, it flew up towards the trees like smoke. A heavy blanket of mist lay across the camp. I could barely make out the leaders den across from me. It seemed like I was the only cat awake. I stared around the camp in attempt to spy other clan members. Just as I started to groom my shimmering grey body, a voice sounded behind me, " Moonpaw, why are you up so early? " my eyes darted back, the brown tabby apprentice from yesterday stood cheerfully in front of the apprentices den. He had a warm smile spread across his face. "None of you business, " I muttered, turning away. He's to cheerful for his good. I thought. " Hey, I forgot to mention my name, I'm tigerpaw." he said, walking around to face me. I simply stared at him with my icy blue eyes. His expression turned confused. I got up slowly, frustration showing on my face. I tuned swiftly and marched back into the apprentices den. Leaving behind Tigerpaw's concerned voice, " ladies, no one understands them...""Featherstar?" I called into the leaders den. My voice echoed across the stones. I padded forward tentatively. The stones were a cold grey and the lichen that hung from the entrance was mossy green. I peered curiously through the strands of lichen. "Moonpaw!" A voice sounded, sending me reeling back. My heart leaped. "Featherstar?" I mewed. Her grey face stuck through the lichen, her warm blue eyes shining. "Come in come in!" She meows. I follow her into the leaders den.
"So, how's my favourite daughter!" She teases. "Oh I'm fine." I mew half heartedly. Her blue eyes flash concern. I look around the den, scanning the walls. "What's up?" She meows. I look back at her, pain displayed on my face. She pads over to me and wraps her fluffy grey tail around my body. We sit like this for a while, until I decide to tell her what's going on. "I miss stonekit.." I mutter.
"I do to.." she mews.
"I wonder what it's like in starclan." I meow. After a long time. She turns to face me. "I had a dream with him," she responds.
"You did! How is he!" I mew excitedly.
"He's just fine.." she says, turning her face away.
