Little Bird
It was of common knowledge amongst the young men of the town, that if you took a girl to Honeysuckle Grove, you would be almost guaranteed a second date. With this information at the ready, the notorious Jasper Kellen, the seducer of any girl he wished, asked the blonde beauty, Jasmine James, to accompany him on a date, to which she eagerly accepted.
The meal, which had been eaten at the local restaurant for the “upper-class” of the town, had been a wonderful success. The young pair had laughed together, and had an enjoyable experience. If one were to stumble upon the couple during the dinner, it would seem as though the seeds of love had been sewn.
Jasmine was a beautiful creature, with shining sapphire eyes, which melted many a heart when added to her wavy platinum blonde tresses. She was slim, but not overly so. Jasmine had once been described as a dove, radiant and pure. It was blindingly obvious as to why Jasper had been so infatuated with the girl.
To make the evening even more magical, as planned, Jasper took Jasmine to the Grove, to which she “ooh-ed” and “ahh-ed”. Around midway through the stroll, Jasmine came across a small bird which was cheeping weakly. The left wing, clearly broken, lay limply on the ground.
“Oh, Jasper, we have to help this poor little thing! If we don’t, it will probably die from its injuries! Or else it won’t be able to fly, and it’ll get snatched up by some fox, or cat! Either way, the little guy will die!” Jasmine said to Jasper, dramatically urgent.
“It is just a little bird, Jasmine,” Jasper coolly replied, “let nature take its course.”
“That is a horrid thing to say! If that little bird were me, Jasper, would you let ‘nature take its course’?” Jasmine fired stonily, her sapphire eyes blazing. “This animal is dying! If I was dying, would you leave me?”
“That’s hardly fair, Jasmine,” Jasper retorted, “I can hardly compare you to a measly little bird!”
“You know, Jasper Kellan, I thought you were truly different to other boys; despite what I had heard. I thought this might turn into something special. Anyway, whatever the fates had in store for us, you’ve just mucked up. I prefer my boyfriends to be considerate, kind, and most importantly, sensitive.” Jasmine turn hotly on her heels and fled the grove, but not before fishing out a handkerchief, putting the little bird inside of it and cupping it in her hands.
It was all Jasper could do to stare longingly after Jasmine’s retreating figure, slightly puzzled at her reaction.
“It’s only a bird,” He scoffed, as he made his way home in defeat. “You may have won the battle, Jasmine James, but you haven’t won the war.”

Exactly one week later from the terrible date with Jasmine, Jasper had a cunning plan mapped out – Operation: Seducing Jasmine James. As he cruised down the higher end of his neighbourhood, he smiled to himself. The sun was burning brightly, a good omen, for sure?
He pulled up at an attractive townhouse, which was painted a sunny yellow. If one looked closely, it seemed to glow in the blinding golden light. Upon the immaculate iron gate, there was a small plaque which read: Tobias Residence.
Jasper smirked, as he had found the right house – Sofia Tobias, the daughter of the highly accredited lawyer, was Jasmine’s best friend and partner in crime. If there was anybody who could help Jasper, it was Sofia.
Full of confidence, Jasper smoothly stepped out of his car, closing the door softly. A gentle nudge at the gate, and he was walking down the path towards the door. All it took was a light little knock and the click of heeled shoes could be heard, approaching the door swiftly.
