Dragon Ball Gomu: Book 1

Welcome To Dragon Island

Down in an uncharted sea... in a place known as the New World.. was a large island that had remained forgotten by most..

Dragon Island had been charted millenia ago.. but had never been visited since it's native inhabitants up and disappeared.. but there were still legends about it.. legends that this island was connected to another world..

Of course.. these were probably just rumors..

There was only one strange thing on this island..

and this was a young blue haired girl.

She wore a martial arts gi, with a strange spherical orange jewel on her belt.. a jewel that had strange star markings within it.. like a marble almost.

The strangest part of all though, was the blue monkey tail she had.. arched up like a cat.

These were nothing but physical peculiarities though, the real strange thing about this girl.. was her past..

Yep.. she had NO past..

Her name, was Berei.. and that's all she remembered.

She was 13 years old... and there was nothing she wanted to do more than leave this island.

She sat upon the large upper branch of the biggest tree in the entire jungle, munching on a large fruit she had found. (no, not a Devil Fruit).

Berei smiled cheerily. That was her philosophy after all.. Always start every day with a smile. Of course, if she had known her father, she would've wondered how he'd EVER be able to follow that philosophy, given his nature... but of course... she didn't know her father.

Berei sighed as she looked at the sun setting beneath the ocean waves. "I wish I could leave..but.."

Berei looked at the sky, as if expecting somebody to come.. but as always.. they didn't...

Nobody ever came...

Berei frowned, and felt the urge to cry.. but as always, she stored it away.. and continued to smile...no matter what, she must always smile. She must always remain happy.

Berei took a deep breath, and then smiled for real this time, when she felt a nuzzle next to her hand. 

It was a large blue bird with large round eyes. big enough for a small girl Berei's size to ride upon. 

Berei grinned. "Hey there KooKoo.."

KOOO! KOOO!" The bird called, and pointed a wing out towards the horizon.

Berei shaded her eyes and stared. "Wha? What's that!?"

In the distance, a large ship could be seen drawing closer to the island..

And upon it's sail, a large symbol could be seen. It was a Jolly Roger, a pirate's symbol, with a Straw hat upon it's skull.

Berei's eyes widened with fear. "P-Pirates!? Oh no!! Stupid pirates never heed ANY warnings I give them... if they get too close.."

There was a sudden roar.. as a massive scream of indescribable rage exploded out nearby in the form of a blast of dark energy, shooting into the sky from somewhere in the forest..

"Oh no.." Berei whimpered. "I have to hurry.. or they're going to die!! Big Green only doesn't attack me during the full moon.. but... if..  There's no time!! Darn!!"

Berei jumped into the air and was suddenly surrounded by a transparent flame-like energy, flying into the sky, followed by KooKoo.
