Soon Nicole left, and I headed out to see Marilyn again. I needed to see her, I was just craving her presence for some reason.
She'd handed me a walkie talkie.
"Call me when everyone is asleep tonight and we will start heading out." Marilyn had given me a kiss on the cheek.
She looked at me and the hitmen, and she said one thing:
"Do not do a single thing until I tell you to, or I will kill you all, do you understand me?"
We all nodded and she continued giving them rules.
They wouldn't disobey her.
That was that.
After she finished speaking, I caught her alone.
"Baby, I don't want to spend the night with them. I want you..." I said to her, almost crying.
"Brian, we have to do this." She said, kissing my lips and pulling away.As much pain as I felt when it came to having to end my friends' lives, none of that pain would ever match up to Lily leaving me.
So I looked in her eyes and nodded.
"Yes, Lily." I said. And like she'd ordered me, I headed back to Nicole's house.
I went to the store and picked up some groceries to make it look like I was out shopping instead of seeing her.
My mind couldn't stop rushing.
I bought some snacks to put in the house.
Snacks they would never get to eat.
I shivered and pulled up the driveway, carrying in bags of chips and candy.
I knocked on the door, and Nicole answered, in her nightgown.
"Hey Brian. I didn't notice you left." She smiled and opened the door for me.
I stepped inside and put the snacks on the counter.
"Thank you." I said.
She smiled.
"No, thank you, for all the snacks. I was starting to get worried that I'd run out of food for you guys."
I nodded and grinned.
"Speaking of food, I made brownies, but the others fell asleep before they could eat them. Can you try one and tell me if they're any good?" She asked.
I shrugged and grabbed one.
"Thank you, Nicole." I smiled.
"I'm sorry if they taste a little off, I left them in for a little longer than I should've." She sighed and went to sit down on the couch.
I finished eating the brownie and got some milk.
"I'm going to bed," I made an excuse so I could call Marilyn and tell her they're all almost asleep.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Nicole." I said.
She smiled.
"Sweet dreams, Brian."
As I walked down the hallway, she finished saying,
"I'll see you tomorrow."
I walked to my room and laid down on the bed.
I felt very tired all of a sudden, so I didn't want to call Marilyn.
I'll have a quick nap, and then I'll wake up when everyone else is asleep.
Then I could call Lily and the hitmen, do our business, hide the evidence, and run.
For the rest of our lives.
I shivered.
This was dangerous and very idiotic.
But I had to do it.
I couldn't lose her.
She was all that mattered at this point, I was blind and oblivious to anything else that existed.
Marilyn was my everything. Those first few times I heard her name, the first time I realized how dangerous she was, the first time she ordered anyone to kill my friend.
Marzia had passed away due to her orders, her boyfriend committing suicide and falling down with her.
Her orders killed Jack and Warren.
They got Aullie shot in the foot.
But still, she moved on, gracefully, not being held back.If I were to die, would she move on, then, too?
My eyelids slowly dripped closed, and I fell asleep.
(sorry, it's a short chapter, but oooohhh suspense :^3 )
