Awake

James was tangled in deep webs of dreams, falling and falling till he woke up. Bright lights surrounded him, and he felt disoriented. It reminded him of Hydra. Trapped in their cold restraints, shocks of electricity coursing through his brain, wiping his mind. He struggled in the bed, to find that the only thing restraining him was Steve. He had his hand on Bucky's chest, gently pushing him back to the bed. The brunet couldn't remember what happened, how he ended up here. The last thing he remembered was getting up to make breakfast... Even though it was past 5. He gazed into the gentle eyes of his lover, and found a smile beneath his perfect nose. He sat up quickly and pulled Steve into a hug, holding himself close to Steve. His Steve.

Tony had come in a few times beforehand to make sure everything was in order, but he finally allowed Bucky back to the room he shared with Steve. Once there, the two men changed into pyjamas before hopping into the bed together and snuggled close. Steve was curled around Bucky this time, tracing gentle circles on the smaller man's leg. Slowly, he gave in to the pull of sleep, feeling content.

Steve Rogers was wide awake, watching his lover through squinted eyes so as to not alert the dark haired man to his consciousness. Steve wondered how anyone could be this beautiful. This man was not the clean and trim Bucky he knew all those years ago. He was a highly trained assassin, with long, dark hair and some light stubble. Yet his eyes were still the most beautiful blue. The super soldier stared at his boyfriend's slightly open mouth, at his perfectly rosy lips, the light stubble surrounding his mouth. Steve chuckled to himself. Despite everything that serum did, he still couldn't grow a beard. It didn't matter.

Bucky felt the vibrations of Steve's laughter and turned to face the man. He felt at a loss for words, until the blond started speaking.
"I never did tell you why Nat had seen me naked".
Bucky half growled, but then smiled when he saw the soft look on his lovers face. "Tell me why, then".

"When I agreed to the experiment, there were... pictures. Pre- and post-serum. May happened to find the file through Jarvis and had a little fun with it".
Bucky burst out laughing then, but secretly wondered if he could get his hands on the file. That would make everything more interesting.
"I love you".
"I love you too, buck".

Hey guys! I know I said I probably wouldn't continue this story but I have had some time off so I figured I would write a quick little chapter for you. This story seems to have gotten a little popular so I kind of felt obligated to continue it. That being said, I'm open to ideas about how to finish the story.
