(Unedited)

An unexpected speed bump, sent the car uncontrollably rattling. In the process my book had slipped off my jean clad legs, and onto my boots.

I sighed in frustration and bent down to pick it up. My hair slid past my shoulder, tickling my neck. Dusting it off I flipped it back to its original place, and set it in my lap, using my finger as a bookmark, when I flipped it closed.

I looked at my wrist covered in rubber bands. I threw my head back, bumping it into the headrest on my seat.

"How much more", I dramatically groaned, being fed up with sitting in the cramped backseat, for at least, and hour.

The car slowed down, stopping at a red light next to a 24/7 shop.

"I literally just told you a minute ago!" My aunt sighed out.

She paused for a minute, waiting for the light to switch green. Once it did, her bracelets shook, letting out a cling sound, and she drive the car forward.

"One kilometer." She said.

I let out a dramatic breath, making sure to exaggerate, so she could hear it. I averted my gaze back to my rugged copy of 'Wuthering heights' continuing on.

Licking my dry, un-manicured fingertips, I prepared to flip the brown page.

I kept reading for about two more minutes, until I couldn't focus. All of these angry thoughts, blinded my vision, not letting me read in peace.

We were going to be staying here for a year, with my aunts close friend. She said they live in Rand Burg and we've been driving for and hour or so, since we landed in 'Joburg.

I was definitely not jumping at the thought of leaving, but my aunt said I needed to leave those bad 'memories' back in Belgium. I was good with her on that thought, but I felt so out of place.

Not that I ever had one.

I ran my hand though my hair, looking out the window for something interesting. The outside view was changing from, city, into modern houses.

From what I heard, Elodie's, my aunt's, friend, was crazy. She had adopted a baby, Siberian husky , and she also owned three tigers at a wildlife resort she made back in 2009 with Elodie. She was also, a philanthropist, so I am hoping that will make my stay more luxurious. Not that I ever cared for that, but it wouldn't hurt.

I also heard she was very big on animal protection, and on having animals in general. The only experience I've ever had with animals was when I was bitten by the mouse that lives in our kitchen. So I hope she keeps that husky of hers locked away.

My aunt works with her in the resort, so she basically lives here. They have been friends since middle school, and she's always going on and on about how awesome she is.

"How much more?" I sighed out, breaking my thoughts.

"Time?" She asked, monotonously

"Sure, whatever" I muttered picking at the rubber band on my wrist.

"40 more minutes" she said pepping up a bit.

She locked her gaze with mine in the rear view mirror, and she smiled at me before saying,

"I think you're going to love your stay here! Nixon has something absolutely wonderful planned for you!" She said matter-of-factly.

I tugged the rubber band forward, only to let go, letting it whip against my wrist. I repeated this again and said,

"A hint?" I said with a sad smirk.

She looked back to the road and chuckled.

"Wouldn't want to ruin the surprise now, would I?" She said taking one hand off the wheel and sticking out her pointer finger shaking it to the left, and to the right. This made her metal rings, of bracelets shake against each other once more.

"You already ruined it by telling me there would be one. " I retorted raising an eyebrow, and plucking the rubber band a third time.

"Don't try and talk me out of it. Your words aren't going to help you with this one" she muttered the last part, pretending I didn't hear.

But I did.

"Whatever" I said plucking the rubber band faster.

"What's that sound?" She said worried. She probably thought there was something stuck in the car wheel or something.

"Me" I dragged out my words.

She hated when someone made the slightest noise. Like that one time when I was doing my homework, I was clicking my pen on and off. She told me to stop, and I did, but that only made me bounce my leg up and down. Things like this helped me shake off extra energy. She kept looking at my leg like she was going to lose her marbles. My leg bouncing caused the chair to squeak, and from this, she threw her magazine on the floor, and dashed out of the room. I was amused, but she didn't let me sit with her when I am doing homework, since that day.

"It's driving me crazy. Please stop" she whispered/screamed.

I plucked it again.

She huffed out in defeat, and turned on the radio. It started playing country music, which I hated.

I rolled down my window, and stuck my arm out of it. I leg the wind brush against it, and I swayed it to the swift movements the wind drew it to make. There was no sun, just clouds, and it looked like it would rain soon.

I loved the rain, and thunder. It made me remember that not only humans can be sad, but the sky too. Like, emotions are everywhere.

I swayed my arm in the wind, and thought about what her house would be like, until my thoughts were cut off by Elodie.

"20 more minutes" my aunt said glancing at me in the rear view mirror again.

I nodded in satisfaction, now twenty minutes is a reasonable. I'll just look out the window.

Sounds like a plan.
