It was now time for Noah to return to Hogwarts for his sixth year and he was feeling a range of different emotions. He was excited to see his friends again, stressed about having to keep up his grades, and mostly, he was nervous.
You see, throughout the summer Noah had written multiple letters to Regulus - ranging from questions such as how his summer was going, to if he was okay or not. However, the Black boy never replied as he had said he would. And Noah was worried that he had done something.
A few months had passed and still, Regulus had now shown up at Hogwarts. Noah grew worried, thinking that perhaps his parents had done something to him.
Rumours began spreading around that Voldemort's Death Eaters had grown in numbers. Noah couldn't help thinking that maybe Regulus had joined them. However, his friends reassured him that Regulus wouldn't do such a thing. That Regulus wouldn't do that to him as he loved Noah too much. They had all grown close to Regulus in their time spent together and they felt as if they knew Regulus well enough to get Noah's hopes up. But what Noah didn't think about, was that Regulus never told Noah that he loved him - but it's not as if Noah told him either.
Noah eventually began to think that perhaps Regulus was at school, but they just hadn't seen each other since they were in different houses and only shared Herbology. Yet, that couldn't explain why Regulus wasn't at meal times, or Herbology either.
Then one day Noah heard something which broke his heart.
He was walking behind the 'Marauders' - as they liked to call themselves, on his way to his next class. Now, he wasn't eavesdropping, Sirius Black simply spoke quite loudly.
"You guys won't believe how much of a kiss ass my brother is to our parents. He went and joined You-Know-Who, without even caring about me or anyone else."
Noah's heart had dropped to his stomach when he heard the news. He even had to stop walking and lean against the wall as his body wouldn't function properly. He couldn't believe that Regulus would do that, Sirius had to be joking. That was the only explanation.
And yet, as Noah sat in Herbology and glanced at the empty chair beside him, all Noah could think about was that Regulus had betrayed him.
