I asked my mom to drop me off by the big welcome sign at the entrance of the barn. She pulled over by a large, "Welcome to Tender Hearts Riding Academy!" sign, in big, bold letters. I stepped out of the car, and I was welcomed by Nala, who had a big, warm smile on her face. I ran over and hugged her. "Hey Evelyn, ready to go see who we are riding today?" she said cheerfully. I enjoyed being near Nala. She made me feel calm, and happy. She also could make me laugh in my saddest times. "Yep, I am ready!" I laughed. We raced over to the barn, as we always did. We giggled as we tried to run as fast as we could to beat the other to the barn. We started to jog, and then walk as we got near the entrance. "Wow nala, your getting faster by the day!" I said, breathing heavily, elbowing her in a fun way. "To me, it seems your getting faster too!" She smirked, also breathing pretty hard. We shared another quick laugh, and walked over to the chalk board.
GROUP 1Ruby- Apollo
June- Jubilee
Amber- Chance
Finch- Mickey
Nala- Moon
Evelyn- Chocolate
I heard a happy cheer from Nala. "Yay, I am riding my Moon boy!" I looked down at my name, hoping I was riding Paradise, a beautiful black mare with white markings. But then, I looked. I was riding chocolate. An old, slow, probably 300 year old gelding, that was only really used for beginner lessons. "I am riding none other than Chocolate." I said huffing, and mumbling under my breath. "Oh goodness, Chocolate? The last time I rode him was like 4 or 5 years ago." Nala said surprised. "I know right! I just remember him being a pain." I said sadly. I was very upset. And of course, Ruby walks up to the board. She reads everyone's horse out loud, as usual. "IM riding, none other than the champion himself Apollo! June is riding the fabulous Jubilee, Ambers riding the oh so great Chance, Finch is riding that black gelding Mickey, Nala is on typical moon, and Evelyn is on... Chocolate? BAHAHAHAH!" She started to laugh. "Chocolate? It looks like Evelyn is still a beginner. I guess she isn't good enough to ride a decent horse like Apollo or Chance, or Jubilee. Have fun!" Ruby laughed. I felt so embarrassed. Nala touched my shoulder. "Its okay, you know she is lying Evelyn. Your a great rider, better than her." "Are you sure Nala? Like Ruby said, I never get to ride any good horses." I dropped a little tear thinking that everyone would soon think I was not as good as them. I started crying a little, and the good friend Nala was, she sat right there. It was like she was crying with me. All the sudden we started to smirk, giggle, and then laugh. "You know, maybe riding Chocolate is a good thing Evelyn. He may be a pain, but he is a challenge! Apollo just does everything for Ruby." Nala remarked. "I guess your right Nala. Your my best friend, thanks." "No problem bestie. Lets go wash off your face, its red." "Okay, lets go." We walked over to a hose, and we gently washed my face.
