Johnny’s POV
Driving over to Matt’s place I could hardly concentrate on the road. I was thinking about Jimmy- how he was going to be there with his girl, and how I was going to spend my holidays alone and sad again. Nobody to cuddle with on Christmas Eve when we all watch movies, nobody to sit with on Christmas morning when we exchange gifts.
I’ll be alone, watching the one I love enjoy himself with someone else. It sounds cheesy and cliché, but if I could have anything for Christmas I’d ask for Jimmy. I’ve loved him for years and he’s never noticed. Every time I see him with his girl, I just think Why can’t that be me?
Before I know it, I’m pulling into Matt’s nearly full driveway. I manage to find a spot to park, and hop out of my car, grabbing my bag with my pajamas and gifts. I run up to the house and knock on the door, hoping to get out of the cold sooner than later.
Matt opens the door. “Hey Johnny! I was just getting ready to call you and see if you were coming!” he says smiling at me.
I laugh awkwardly. “Yeah, I got…uh, stuck in traffic. People are driving ridiculously slow today.” I reply, hugging him and stepping inside his front hall. I set my bag down on the bench with everyone else’s.
“The others are in the living room, go say hi I’m off to grab drinks. You want anything?”
I decline, walking into the living room, where all the guys are hanging out on the couches, a basketball game on the TV.
“Johnny! How’s our little midget?” Brian shouts, chuckling and throwing his arm around Zacky and waving to me.
“I’m doing great Bri.” I say dryly, rolling my eyes at his joke. I notice that the only empty seat is next to Jimmy. Great. It’s probably for Savannah- his girlfriend. I go stand behind Arin and start a conversation with him, Matt joining in when he came back in from the kitchen.
“Guys… Where’s Savannah?” I ask in a low voice.
The couple looks at each other before Arin replies, “Um… Jimmy broke up with her.” He says.
I felt like I could burst with joy. It’s wrong to be happy, but now maybe I can tell Jimmy how I feel. “Why?” I ask.
“Apparently he found her cheating. That was all he told us.” Matt said. I stand up straight in anger. How could she do that? Jimmy was… perfect. He was everything you could ever want from a boyfriend- sweet, caring, funny… I could go on for hours.
“I’m gonna go sit with him…” I say, walking away from Matt and Arin. I sit down next to him and say “Hey, Jimmy.”
He looks up at me with sad eyes and sighs. “Hi Johnny.” He replies quietly. Damn, Savannah really hurt him.
