Daniela's POV:"Miss Wright!" Lily, my secretary, yelled after me as she ran down the hall. Just barely making it into the elevator, before the doors closed tightly.
"I arranged that conference meeting with the board, it'll be just how you asked." She beamed. I smiled.
"Thank you very much, I don't know how this company would run without you." I say, touching her arm kindly. She smiled, then jumped in surprise.
"Oh! I almost forgot!" She exclaimed, handing me a clipboard and a pen. "The high counsel wants confirmation of the new fundraiser, something about copy writing the charity."
I nodded, looking over the text quickly before signing at the bottom. I handed it back to her as the doors opened, and nodded to her again as I left her in the elevator.
The sound of my heals on the tiles of the floor, echoing through the lobby of my building.
"Welcome to Wright Publishing!" I say happily, as a group of officials sat patiently in the leather waiting chairs. The clear glass wall facing the outside, making the outlines of passing pedestrians seem unclear.
Seeming like we were swimming in an underwater reception center, as the sound of pens clicking sounded around the room. "I'm Miss Wright. If you could please follow me, we can begin."
They all nodded, following me out of the main room, and down the hall. The tall white walls and sky lights flowing into the next room. Quiet chatter followed behind me, as I led the group with a confident stride. I stopped in front of a large painting on the wall.
"Gentlemen," I say softly. Turning to them, and gesturing to the painting. "This is Augustus William Wright, the founder of this beloved company." I say, looking back to the painting.
"His motto was 'Perfection is only possible by the desire to find valence in your work'. He left a life long legacy, always giving the company his best, and putting everything he had into its growth. Here at Wright Publishing we strive for his legacy to live through many more generations." I say, folding my hands in front of me. Watching as random members of the group nod and write details on their notepads.
"As this industries CEO, I strive for the same values. Willing to do whatever it takes to this company reach the top, with dignity and honor." I finished. A flow of claps erupted from the crowd, making a smile appear on my lips.
"You may begin to ask any questions you may have. Feel free to ask." I add, as the applause dies down.
A couple of hands raise, and I point to the one closest to me first. "Yes?"
"What are your hopes for this next year?" He said firmly.
"My hopes are to raise the reading numbers by double, and to earn more interest from the public eye with the new stories we have coming out soon." I say calmly, watching him nodded as he wrote down what I had said. I gestured to another question, and they looked up from their papers as I listened.
"Are you worried about Carpenter Industries? Word on the street is that they will soon be higher than this company."
I cleared my throat and smiled.
"I have no concern for my company. Yes, Mr. Carpenter has many talented workers. And has produced some decent content for the viewers eye, but he lacks something. Drive. The drive to bring the art of reading to a new level. And I believe only Wright Publishing can do that." I smile. Again, nodding to the next question as chatter begins to fill the large hallway.
Aaron's POV:
"They're getting better." I state, tossing the newspaper onto my desk. Staring at the printed pages as I lean back in my chair.
"What do you suggest we do Sir?" Peter asked, pushing his glasses back on his nose. I ran my hands over my face, and took a deep breath. I looked towards the window, frowning at the large Wright building in my view of the horizon.
"We are so close Sir." He added, trying to bring my spirits up, I nodded sympathetically. Running my hand through my hair, before looking up at him.
"I guess you're right." I sigh. "We do have some accomplishments that we can be proud of."
"The big issue comes out tomorrow. I'm sure that will be our ticket to the top." He said calmly, packing up his things from the floor, and standing up.
"Get some rest Sir." He said calming. I nodded blankly, and he sighed. Leaving the room quietly, and quickly.
I shook my head. "I'll think of something." I say to myself, pushing up from the chair. "I always do."
"I sure hope you're ready Miss Wright," I smirk, gazing out of my window. My hands in my suit pockets, as I look down at the small streets below. "Cause I wouldn't be if I were you. I can play this game better. Just watch."
