Daniela's POV:

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I lean forward in my chair, pressing the speak button on my desk. My heart racing, as the green button flashed.

"Ms. Wright." I sigh.

"Good afternoon Miss," They reply. "Mr. Carpenter has just pulled up. And is on his way up."

"Thank you." I say, removing my finger from the button. I reach into my desk drawer bringing out my purse, before standing on my feet.

I walk around the desk, and turn so I'm facing the large mirror on the opposite wall. I smooth my long, wavy hair and look over myself. I had to admit, I was impressed with Lily.

She had bought a two piece bandage wrap dress. A dark olive color, and paired it with black pumps. I smiled to myself, feeling surprisingly confident. Alright lets get this over with.

My smile faded, as I heard a soft knock on the door.

"One second!" I say, hurrying over to the edge of my desk. I leaned against it, putting my purse down on the wood surface.

Oh yes, I always gaze out my window like this Mr. Carpenter. It's never too much trouble to make a good impression.

"Come in." I say. The door slowly opens, to reveal a man in a back suit. Instantly the smell of cologne filled the room.

It smelled amazing. Like a trip to Rome with a group of friends, then staying to night in a fancy hotel. He stepped inside, looking over me once before smiling. His hair was neatly done, and his eyes bright with excitement.

"Hello." He smiled.

"Hello." I smile back, actually surprised at how calm he seemed.

"You look amazing." He pointed out.

"So do you." I say, pushing away from the desk. I extended my hand out for him to shake, even with my heals his tall figure towering over me. He gently took my hand, but instead of shaking it, he kissed it.

My heart pounded through my veins as his soft lips left my skin. He sure is a gentleman. Maybe that part of him is just over looked because of his company. Who would want to be known for their kindness, when you're trying to be at the top.

"Should we get going?" He asked, letting his arm drop but not letting go of my hand. I couldn't argue with the friendly gesture, and let him hold it. Deep inside kind of liking the feeling.

"Sure." I agree. "Where will we be going?" I ask, watching him look around my office.

"That is entirely up to me, and you to find out when we get there." He laughed, looking back at me.

I laughed back, pushing a piece of hair behind my ear. I reached over, and grabbed my purse. Putting it over my shoulder, as he tightened his fingers around mine.

He pulled me towards the door, and held it open for me. I let go of his hand slowly as I walked through it, feeling him close behind me.

Even if this was only for today, I really didn't want gossip of holding his hand through my business.

He closed the door, and put his hand on my back. Walking rather protectively beside me, as I could feel eyes over us.

He waved, and smiled as Lily peeked over her cubical. Her face turning red, as she was caught staring. Quickly dropping back down in shame. I laughed, making him look to me in a smile.

"They don't like me do they?" He whispered in my ear.

"Well we are rivals." I smiled. "I just think they never pictured you as a real person."

He chuckled. "That wouldn't be the first time."

"Oh?" I say, as we approached the end of the hallway.

"Maybe a story for another time." He smiled lightly, his eyes softening.

"O-Okay." I say, feeling a little bad that I had thought to make this lunch a miserable one. He obviously didn't want that, making me feel worse about the way I was thinking earlier.

He was as normal as me. He was actually quite nice, and easy to talk to compared to his image from the public press.

He leaned in front of me, pressing the elevator button. A breeze of his cologne blowing into my senses, making me close my eyes momentarily.

"Are you alright?" He asked, concern in his tone. I opened my eyes, embarrassed he had caught me. He looked back and forth to each of my eyes, asking again with his gaze.

I slowly nodded, a soft smile crawling against my lips. The elevator opened, and we both shook off the moment.

The ride down was a silent one. Both of us watching the floors count down, like the New Years ball in Time Square. Each number beating through my heart, as it seemed like an eternity before we reached the first floor.

Finally we exited the building, the loud street surrounding us with an overwhelming scream of the population. I felt a warm hand reach for mine, making me jump as I looked down.

"Just me." He whispered. He pulled me forward, opening the passenger side of his white car. He held it open for me, kissing my hand again as I passed him and sat down inside.

He let go of my fingers, and closed the door gently. I buckled my seatbelt, and set my purse on the floor. Admiring the smell of his car, it smelled new.

I watched him walk around the front of the car, looking up at the buildings as he walked. His stride powerful, and full of statement.

He knew who he was.

He knew what people wanted to see in him.

He really was as mysterious as people said.

He opened the drivers side door, and slid in. Buckling his seatbelt, then starting the car.

"Are you ready?" He smiled.

"Yeah." I say, actually starting to get excited. What was this feeling? All at once he was my favorite person. All at once I didn't want to stop being with him. I was overcome with the beautiful power that was expressed through his smile.

"Alright," He said, shifting the car into gear and pulling away from the sidewalk. Speeding down the road, with his hands demanding the steering wheel. "I hope you like Italian."
