Rachael's PoV
I was at Sophia's house for dinner when I heard a knock on the door. "I'll get it!" Sophia shouted. It was just me and her in the house since her parents where on a three week run.
"Who do you think it is?" I asked before taking a bite of my toast. Sophia shrugged and a couple seconds later, her eyes lit up and I groaned.
"It might be... I don't know...Carl!" she yelped and I covered my ears.
"Are you ever gonna let that go Sophia?" I asked and she shook her head before running to open the door. I laughed quietly and continued eating my pasta.
"Why hello Carl." I heard her say. She said Carl's name a little louder than normal, just for me. That girl, she loves me.
"Hi Sophia, is Rachael here?" I heard Carl ask. There was a pause and I knew my friend was thinking of what to say.
I was beginning to get worried when I didn't here then for a little, but continued eating. A few moments later, someone's hand went over my eyes, blocking my vision. "Guess who?" Carl asked quietly, and I heard Sophia giggling in the background.
I sighed and said,"Could it be, oh I don't know, my boyfriend?" Carl laughed and took his hand off my eyes, allowing me to turn around and face him.
Carl hadn't changed one bit, and that's how I want it. He still had his shoulder length brown hair and ocean blue eyes. He leaned in and gave me a quick kiss before telling me what he came here for. Sophia happily and I sent her a glare. She quickly looked away and I smiled.
"A new group showed up at the gates and my dad wants me and you to show them around." he said, stealing the rest of my toast. I smacked his hand and grinned at him while he continued eating.
I stood up and asked my best friend,"Am I excused?" She pondered for a second before giving me her answer.
"Yes you may be excused." she said with a big smile. I returned that smile, grabbed Carl's hand and dragged him out if the house and into the street and to the gate.
On our way there I asked,"Has he asked them the questions?"
"Yup." was the reply I got. Satisfied with that reply, I was quiet until we got to the gate.
"Hey Mr.Grimes!" I greeted, giving the man a hug. He hugged back and once he released me he smiled.
"Hi Rachael, and please, just call me Rick." Rick said. I nodded and laced my hand with Carl's.
"So, who are the newbies?" I asked as soon as I saw the group of what I assumed where four siblings, cautiously enter Alexandria.
"I'm Aaron." said the tallest and oldest looking if the siblings.
"I'm Maya." said the next sibling in line. She kept glancing at Carl and I shot her a glare that meant he was mine and I certainly didn't want to share him . I definitely didn't want to have to deal with another Blaire around here.
"Chris." said a shorter boy next to Maya. I could tell he was making Carl mad by the way he was looking at him. I smiled and squeezed him and reassuringly. Carl relaxed only a little and I sighed.
"I'm Ashley!" squeaked the youngest of the siblings. Her chocolate brown eyes where full of fear, sadness, and excitement. I smiled at her because she reminded me of what I was like when I was her age.
I took a deep breath and said,"Well it's nice to meet you all, I'm Rachael and this is Carl. Welcome to Alexandria."
