It is one of the most popular video game franchise.Other than games,there are anime,card games,movies and I'm not even joking,CONCERTS.
SERIOUSLY.
CONCERTS.
A WHOLE F**KING ORCHESTRA PERFORMING ON STAGE.
My mind is literally blown.A video game franchise is able to become so big.It sounds impossible!To make the game sound stupid,it is just about throwing balls at some creatures and using them to fight(There are EV training,mega evolution,holding items,eggs and all that stuff which complicates the game...but that is a topic for another day).And now,Pokemon has become a household name because of Pokemon GO and Pokemon Sun and Moon around the corner.And as usual,although the franchise is loved by many,there are some trolls/haters/superstitious people/mad people/bored people who spread hate.
Let's read and discuss some of their statements.
Statement 1:It's just a kid's game.
I'm sure 90% of those who say this are kids who are trying to be cool and act like an adult.Sure,Pokemon sounds simple.X and Y are really easy games.The gym leaders are not that hard,the elite four are too easy for a 6 year old to beat.But that is why people play X and Y!You won't be needing lots of brain juice.They are not the kind of game that make you scream in rage,throw your console and cry on your bed.I play X and Y whenever I want to relax and chill.Sometimes,simplicity is good.Also,not all Pokemon games have easy gym leaders and elite four.WHITNEY AND HER MILTANK is the best example.In case you were living under a rock when Gold and Silver were out,Whitney was one of the,if not,the HARDEST gym leader to defeat.Her Miltank was able to use Milk Drink,a move which restores up to 50% of the user's current HP(kind of wish that would happen when I drink milk).That Miltank also know moves like Rollout and Attract which,combine with a Clefairy,make Whitney a pain in the ass to fight.
Hard games can be kid's games,I hear you say.
Yes,they can. I saw kids playing Flappy Bird before.But now,I will need to ask you a question:What makes a kid's game a kid's game?
It's sounds stupid,I know.But think about it.What makes Elsa Dentist a kid's game?The answer is simple:Kids enjoy it,but not adults.I am sure if I make most of you play Elsa Dentist(I'm not even joking,it is a real game),most of you will die of boredom.That means Flappy Bird is a kid's game,I hear you say.The answer is no.Flappy Bird is neither a kid's game or an adult's game.I shall call this group of games the kidult(kid+adult) games.Kidult games are games that adults and kids all play.Flappy Bird is a kidult game as it is played by kids and adults(but no one likes it,so it should be considered as a RAGE GAME,which is a topic for another day).Pokemon is a kidult game as it is enjoyed by kids and adults.More kidult games are Super Mario,Harvest Moon and Kirby.Some kidult games are considered kid's game because kids play them,but adults play those games too.These games are usually targeted at younger audiences,so they make the game more simple for kids to play them.However,they will add features to complicate the game so older audiences will not die of boredom when playing the game.
