Chapter 1 Justifications
I stood looking at my reflection, confused I thought for a minute stopping my train of thought. I could hear the rain elegantly dropping on the rooftop, calming me, and soothing my racing brain. I looked down at my goose-bumped body and quickly looked in the mirror. "I got this, I got this, you got this Sketch, you got this" I mumbled to myself, trying to encourage myself.
I walk out quietly to see the scene of the horror, high school, I know terrifying. I tilt my head down just a little and search for my locker which seemed impossible with the hormones lingering in the halls; no wonder high school smells awful. People left, right, and straight ahead of you, there's no escape from them. I reached my locker but today I wasn't shocked a couple, on my locker, kissing know what I mean by hormones lingering? I was not going to let this couple ruin my day so I spoke my true words of wisdom.
"Can you....please....um....move off my....um.... locker."
I know right I'm a total badass. After I said my wonderful speech the girl glanced at me with disgust, and proceeded to say "Who are you again?" Want to know the ironic thing; we've been in twelve classes together since the 4th grade, her name, of course, Jamie Glasson. Welcome to the joys of high school.
It never really got under my skin, but she tried to really hard. I mobile sense of dignity ignored her.
Less about her and more about the person you're here to know about, me obliviously. Sketch Marie Dodger is my full name, well I mean Sketch isn't my 'birth name. It's actually Sandra but I HATE it. I was named after some lame singer my parents love for some lame reason. I got the nickname Sketch because ever since I was a child I loved to sketch and draw. So much that my parents started calling me Sketch and it just, well stuck.
Other than the fact high school sucks balls I have my best friend in the entire world Kegan. We've been best friends since kindergarten; he's my next door neighbor. I mean he makes life not suck so bad. He makes me try new things and you know to enjoy life. You should know a little thing about Kegan. The ladies cannot stay off of him, my lord he's like a magnet to them or something. If I had a dollar every time if had to save him from a girl I'd be manageable rich. He is a very good looking person and doesn't even think about it. This isn't some lame romance where the girl realizes this WHOLE time she's in love with her best friend of 10 years and it's a big happy ever no. It's going be way more fun and interesting than that.
I started walking slowly to the spot me and Kegan always met up at the end of the day. Kegan could drive and had a car so I carpooled. We always have fun going to and from school, screaming our favorite songs together, laughing and getting food. His parents are really chill almost too chill, I mean they really don't pay much attention to their kids. Kegan is the middle child, his older sister Melina; well she got pregnant at 16. She's now 19 raising her son, Ben, he's the cutest kid. Kegan's youngest sibling Mark is a freshman and he has some psychological disorder. Don't freak out he's okay he just sees stuff others don't; he is on medicine that helps him. Kegan's problem, well he just is addicted to life really.
I stood in our spot waiting for Key P.S. that's my nickname for him. About a minute later he started walking toward me. His black hair and dark skin completed him. His bright blue eyes glimmered in the light. I mean he is a beautiful person. Now I know you're thinking, "She totally in love with him". No, he really isn't my type.
"Hello," he said while smiling.
"Ugh Kegan you always take forever," I said in an irritated tone.
