When I wake up I see a text from Luke. Saying to meet him at the bench in front of my apartment at 12:30. "It's already 11." I say to myself but I still start to get ready. I put on a light peach v-neck top, a black boyfriend cardigan, light blue skinny jeans and black ballet flat. I fluff up my hair and grab my phone and purse.
"Morning abuelita." I say as I walk to the living room.
"Morning Linda. Where are you going?"
"To meet a friend. Not far I promise." I smile, playing with the MK on my bag.
"Alright, I'll tell your mother. Have fun." She blows me a kiss and I put it in my pocket. I head for the door when I get another text from Luke.
-I'm outside, now where are you?"
-I'm coming clam down.I reply as I run down the steps.
I burst through the doors and see Luke sitting on the bench. I smile when he double takes at me.
"So you memorized my address. That's not creepy at all." I joke.
"I didn't memorize your address, I memorized how to get here." He puts his phone in his pocket.
"Where are we going?"I ask sitting next to him.
"Well since I'm driving I think I'm keeping it a secret."
"Driving? You have a car? Wait, you have a licence?" I ask completely confused.
"Yes to all of those questions. Lets go." he gets up fixing the position of his beanie.
"Okay." I drag on the word as I get up.
"You look nice." he looks me up and down as we walk.
"You think. I just threw on whatever. I mean, thanks." I smile pulling on my sleeves. "I would love to know where we're going."
"Like I said I want it to be a surprise." he pulls out the keys to a 2013 Sedan, and unlock the doors.
"Nice." I check it out.
"Yeah its my dads he lets me use it when he's on business trips." he opens my door. I smile and sit in my seat. He runs to his side of the car and sits down.
"Are you ready?"
"Yes Luke." I smile.
He starts the car and zooms away.
"So." Luke starts. "Who was that guy you was arguing with yesterday?"
"You uh-uh you saw that?"
"Yup." he rubs his neck, holding the wheel with one hand. "So who is he?" he looks at me with the dark green eyes.
"He's I guess a friend. He got mad that you walked me home. I told him it was none of his business. That's it." I shrug.
"Well he sounds like an ass."
"No, he's not. His sweet actually. Its just his temper is awful." I defend Marquise even though his acting like a jerk.
"Oh." Luke takes his eyes off me like I said something wrong.
"Where are we going?" I yell trying to break the silence.
"You'll see. Just sit back and enjoy the free ride.Ight?"
"Whatever." I laugh. He laughs too. Luke turns up the radio and the song "Call Me Maybe plays. We look at each other and start singing the lyrics, completely off key. When the song ends we both laugh hysterically.
"That song is the worst." I say through my laughter.
"For real." he smiles. "Do me a favor, close your eyes."
