JeongHan point of view
"Go! Take your sister and run!" My mother cries as she pushes my sister and me out the back door.
"But mommy, are you coming with us?" Mina asks, not letting go of my mother.
"I'll see you soon. I promise." As grabs Mina in her arms. "JeonHan promise me you'll watch over your sister." She looks up at me, her eyes gloss over as I can see the pain hidden behind them.
"I will."
"No promise me." She cries, tears falling faster than the sobs that leave her lips.
"I promise." I coo as I kneel down to wipe her tears away.
"Okay go. Go far away from here." He kisses my forehead. "Shift, and run away with her. Do whatever you can to keep her safe." She whispers in my ear, her voice doesn't match her emotion this time. It comes out more of a demand than of a plea.
"Okay." I nod, picking up my sister in my arms and running into the clusters of trees.
"Oppa, why are we leaving mom?" Mina asks, her voice cracking.
"Because very bad men are in the house. They want to do very bad things to mom and I. So I need you to hide. Okay?" I put her down once I think we have gone far enough.
"Are you going to help mommy fight the bad men? Is SooYoung with the bad men too?" She questions. And for the moment I think I should tell this 6-year-old the truth about what is going on. But my 12-year-old mind can't come up with the right words to comfort her after. So I decided against it.
"Yes. She is helping mom hide. And I really need you to hide." I kneel down to her hight. "Here take this..." I hand her a knife. "If they find you, use this. I need you to. I'll come back and get you." I kiss her forehead before grabbing her into a hug. "Now go hide. Show me where you are."
She runs off and hides in the middle of a big oak tree. "Please help mommy." Her shaky voice begs.
"I will. I promise." I wink hopping to lighten the mood. "Now shh." I put my finger over my mouth.
I run back to the house.
"Where is it!" I hear one of the men yell.
"Just let go of her. She has nothing to do with it. Please let go of her." Mom begs.
I see a man holding my sister in his arms with a gun by her head.
She shakes her head no towards me."Let her go please." Mom begs.
Pow
He shoots mom.
"Agh!!" My sister streaks, tears running her face in fear.
And I cover my mouth trying to drown out the sounds of sobs Leaving my lips.
"Didn't you hear her?! She doesn't know where it is?!" My sister shouts as she tries to free her self from the man's grip on her body. "Let go of me you fucker!" She screams, thrashing around in his arms.
"You little bitch!" He shouts as he throws her body on to the floor, aiming the gun towards her.
And in that very moment, her eyes begin to glow a bright orange and she growls, eyeing him as he shakes in fear.
"You killed my mother!" She shouts as she tackles him. I have never seen my sister this angry before. She takes a fist full of his hair in her hands as she slams his head against the floor.
The sound of his head repeatedly hitting the floor and her heavy breathing fill the small living room.
"JungHan..." she whispers as she looks at me with sorry eyes. "Come here." She says in a hushed tone as she leaves the now dead mans body. Opening her arms towards me. And I gladly run into her arms.
And I begin to sob into the chest of my 15-year-old sister. I can't even comprehend what is going on.
Who are these men? And why did they kill my mother?
"I want them all dead," I growl as I pull away from my sister and make my way to the kitchen.
All the strength that I can gather in my 12-year-old body, I use it to shift and claw on the eyes and the limbs from the three men that stand in my kitchen.
The only thing seen is the color red as I feel the blood rush through my veins.
