The Start of the journey

Chapter 1

The breeze was soothing Badger's ruffled fur. The trees bristled, the leaves fell and hit the forest floor. Badger opened her eyes to feel the comforting air, her black and red pelt brushed past the grass as she was laying down. Badger twitched her tail " What a great weather!" Badger heard a voice in the distance " Come here Badger! Time to come inside!" Badger beckoned her tail and ran towards her Twolegs nest. Badger felt her Twoleg brush its hand against her black and red pelt, a sudden purr came from her chest. She had always loved the forest with mysterious cats lurking in the dark, Badger never wanted to be what she is now, she knew her future lays with the cats who live by the lake. Badger admired the cats that passed by practically each night, there was always a scent of pine trees that drifted from their pelts as they past by, she wondered whether she should go or not, but she knew where her true blood was, a Twoleg kit, and she didn't dare think she was one of those magnificent cats. Her heart burst when she knew what she was going to do. I'm going into the forest! I can learn every hunting moves and fighting techniques! I can't wait...

Badger smelt the air and sensed the fresh scent of food, she went up to her paws and stumbled to her bowl of food. Badger finished her meal and ran through a hole and ended up outside of the Twoleg nest. Badger sat down on the forest floor and heard other cats yowling! She could smell the scent of battle and blood. Badger ran to the sound of the cats fighting, her tiny legs were holding her down from running, she began to get a better scent of what's going on. The trees behind her began to bristle, their leaves were all maple colored, the grass beneath her paws felt wet but she didn't mind, she just wanted to know what was happening in the forest.

Badger began to run and chased the scent of battle, her tiny legs keeping her in place, Badger realized that she was very close to the battle, but how did she sense this battling when she was so far away in her Twoleg nest, Badger shook her head to get the thought away and she realized she was in the center of cats, they were snarling and hissing, and saying comments about how stupid they were. Badger looked around, terrified, her ears flat and her tail up in alarm, Badger opened her jaws " Um.... Sorry to interrupt.... But I sensed something from my Twoleg nest and this is where my senses ended.... I smell blood and yowls of terror.... What's going on?" Badger was very scared of the cats glaring at her and they were giving her weird looks, she saw one of the cats in the front come forward and mew " We are cats! Born in the forest! We live in clans and we are battling for our territories, we do not welcome Kittypets!" Badger leaped back a tail-length away and she waited for someone to talk but it was just silence, all the cats were staring at her.... " I..... I..... I don't want to be a Twoleg Kit anymore.... I always wanted to join the forest, I've always heard cats but I never knew they were you guys! So may we please stop and allow me to join one of your clans.." Badger meowed. One of the cats from the far side meowed " We don't need to fight over territories! Let's just keep them the same! And we thank this young cat for stopping the blood that would've been spilled today!" All the cats around Badger yowled in agreement and some of the cats turned around and went to another direction then the others... She guessed they were going home? Badger sat down and let out a sorrow mew " Please can someone at least let me join their group..." All the clans left except one, they were talking to eachother but one of the cats were standing high, his chest fluffed up in furry, he raised his tail and all a sudden all the cats were quiet, the one standing tall meowed " We will be the clan to welcome you, I am the leader of this clan! And my clan name is StormClan! And my name is Sparrowstar! I welcome you to my clan!" Badger went up to her paws and started to jump in excitement and she ran to their group and followed the leader to her new home!

Badger woke up in a bush with moss beneath her, she looked around to see young cats around her, she ran out of the nest and saw Sparrowstar putting his tail in different directions to other cats and Badger sat down in front of Sparrowstar and he mewed gently " Yesterday I didn't quite catch your name.. What is it?" Badger moved one paw forward " I am Badger! And I'm so glad you welcomed me to this place!" Sparrowstar let out a purr and mewed " I am truly glad you came to my clan! I will ask one of my warriors to show you-" he stopped at the sound of another cat " Why did we have to except a Kittypet, Sparrowstar! We will look weak with a stupid fur ball like her!" The Stranger looked at Badger with strong fearful eyes and Badger went into a fighting crouch, ready to attack, and Sparrowstar didn't say anything except he allowed the young warrior to attack her, he leaped on top of Badger and let out a snarl, she let her front claws scratch his shoulder, the young warrior growled in pain but didn't stop the fight, The young warrior scratched her across the face, leaving her a scratch mark.... She tried to get up but as soon as she got up to her paws she felt the weight of the young cat trying to bite her neck, all a sudden she felt a power in her and she scratched his ear and she let out a yowl. The cat was bleeding and so was Badger, but he just ran after her but before he could attack again Badger slid under his belly and bit his hind leg, he let out a yowl of pain and a other cat came and mewed " Stop this at once! We already know that this Kittypet is fit to be part of us, just look at you Ferretfang! You're bleeding and this cat hasn't even got any scratches from you, accept one! This battle is over! This Kittypet has won against one our warriors!" Sparrowstar leaped down from his rock and mewed " From this day forward! Before this kit earns her warrior name she will be known as Badgerpaw!" Badgerpaw opened her eyes wide from hearing her new name and heard cats cheering for her and saying her name " I am Badgerpaw! An apprentice of StormClan!" The cats got louder and louder and she glanced at Sparrowstar and he had a smile on his face " Dovepelt please take care of Ferretfang and I need a warrior to show Badgerpaw arround" A cat stepped forward and meowed " I will!" he looked like an apprentice like her " You aren't a warrior Jaypaw! But I guess you can" Sparrowstar mewed, Badgerpaw felt Jaypaw nudge her to her paws and she followed him to a nest where she slept, Jaypaw mewed " This is the apprentices den! And this is where we sleep " he let out a purr and went towards another nest " This is the warriors den! And we will be warriors soon!" a cat came out of the warriors den and mewed " hello young one, I'm Dawnflower and I heard you beat Ferretfang! Such a brave cat you are" Badgerpaw smiled at her comment and followed Jaypaw to a weird scented den " This is the Elders den, when you get old you will have to sleep here too" he let out a laugh of amusement and Badgerpaw brushed her pelt against his and she followed him to a den that smelt like milk " This is the nursery, when you have kits you go here" Badgerpaw looked inside and saw two mothers and kits " Hi there Badgerpaw! I'm Petalfur and the other Queen beside me is Daisypelt and-" one of the kits interrupted her " I am Foxkit! And this is my sister Angelkit " Foxkit was a young cat but he seemed to be really strong, one of the kits interrupted her thoughts " I am Weaselkit and this is my two sisters Leafkit and Snowkit " Weaselkit looked as if he was just born but Leafkit and Snowkit were looking as if they were born for moons! But she knew they were the same age. Jaypaw flicked his ear and went towards another den " This is the Medicine cats den! And whenever you have a scratch or need help just go in here and our medicine cat, Spottedheart will help you out!" Jaypaw mewed. Badgerpaw felt home sick and all she wanted to was lay in her new nest, Badgerpaw mewed " Jaypaw may I go to sleep? I'm tired from yesterday.... I was running so far " Jaypaw nodded and he followed Badgerpaw to her nest and she settled down and slept next to Jaypaw.
