My eyes slowly opened to a thin wall of dark obsidian. The bullet was lodged in the black stone stopping it inches from my face. I sat in amazement as it sunk back into the ground leaving a crack in the pavement.
Savion hung his head low, she gave herself away just to save me.
"I did not come back just to let you die," she said in her normal voice.
Two soldiers hurried and ran behind Savion and I to uncuff us. Vilkas and his men were frozen in their bewilderment. I was confused beyond recognition and Savion seemed the same way, a short explosion of fire blasted the rest of the surrounding soldiers, startling them or sending them a blaze.
"Savion, lead us to the meeting spot, we have to get out of here now!" Yelled a solider. Without questions Savion signaled everyone to follow and bolted for the nearest sewer grate. Everyone followed, one of the two soldiers followed him, Hex sent me forward, then she followed with the other solider.
Bullets whistled past our heads and barely missed us. Hex was taking the fire as we ran. I could hear as bullets pierced her skin. The odd sound of flesh being torn and repaired was a sound like no other.
Savion stopped us as a thin wall of obsidian shielded us once again as one of the soldiers ripped the heavy grate off the sewer. I could hear the shield start to crack as it took additional damage from men joining Vilkas' firing squad.
First Savion, then a the solider without the grate, I looked back at Hex as she struggled to repair the wall as it started crumbling.
"Go! She can't hold it for long," yelled the solider with the grate. I jumped in the hole and into the arms of the solider. Next jumped in Hex and the other solider. He placed the lid and she coated it in a thick layer of obsidian.
The soldiers removed their helmets to reveal a zombie and a skeleton I had come to love over the years. I hugged them immediately and thanked them for the assist in rescue.
"Do you honestly think we would let Hex follow Vilkas alone?" Spoke Tobi as he let go of his grip on me.
"Look everyone, I'd love to stop and chat, but I can hear the breaking of obsidian by diamond pickaxes," spoke Levi. Savion nodded and ran again. We followed him deeper and deeper into the tunnels, the only source of light was the soft purple glow of Hex's eyes. It was calming for a bit until we heard the splashing of boots chasing after us in the darkness. We quickened our pace as the sounds got louder.
The sound of rushing water got louder as we ran. The water under our feet gained a current as water rushed in from surrounding pipes.
"Were approaching a waterfall! When you see it jump in and keep your arms crossed over your chest and legs together. Don't panic, let the stream carry you!" Yelled Savion.
We heard gun shots fired as we ran.
"They are blind firing! Just keep running. I could block it, but..." Hex was drowned out by the water.
A bullet zoomed pass me and hit Savion in his shoulder, "Just do it!!!" Savion held his shoulder as he ran. When Hex heard those words the sound of boots stopped abruptly and so did she. The water around our feet softened and he bullets stopped. The others kept running and jumped off the fall.
"Susan what are you doing? Jump!" She yelled at me.
"I'm not going without knowing you're close behind," I grabbed onto her arm and tried to pull her.
"I'll be fine, just go please!" Her tone changed from fierce to begging. The sound of gunshots filled my ears as the wall started cracking.
"Hex leave it and run!" I yelled.
"The farther I get the more energy I have to use to repair it!" A bullet blasted through the wall and pierced her side, she started repairing it immediately.
"Just forget it! We will loose the rest of the team," I could hear pickaxes making their way through the wall.
"Sigh fine, get ready!" She grabbed my hand and started running for the falls. The wall broke behind us causing water to rush in and sweep us off our feet. The water burned as it filled my nose and forced its way down my throat.
It all rushed in so fast. I saw the opening of the tunnel and held my arms to my body and legs together as I approached the fall.
The water flushed off into the fall taking me with it. The sudden rush of weight and gravity took me until I felt me hit the water below me once again. The water whisked me away to an underground clearing.
Mobs and my people were posted here, some with guns and some just waiting for us to leave.
"We don't have enough power yet!" Yelled some Endermen.
"What do you mean enough power? If you can't teleport us away we are all screwed!" Ordered Savion. Hex surfaced out of the water and ran up to him.
"I'll do it, just keep everyone in a group and defend me," Savion nodded and ordered his troops to prepare for the oncoming attack. Hex walked to the center of the room and placed her palms against the floor. The sounds of splashing and gun reloading filled everyone's ears. Our men readied their weapons.
The battle of the sewers. I hope you really can save us Hex.
