They were highschool sweethearts, destined to be until the very next day came along Mars, he took Mercury's poor sweetheart away.

After Mercury's mother, Sun, found out about the news a day later through her poor son's weeping eyes, she wasn't pleased at all. She was so displeased that she used her
powers to melt half the system away.
Venus and Mars light years gone off to live a happily ever after of their own not knowing the fast system they were once in was left to ruins.
Sun got so mad she hadn't even noticed her son was gone too.
She wept and wept knowing her mistakes knowing revenge had a price to pay, she had lost all of her friends and family amidst her anger, her spark of fire was gone for she had used too much in her rampage that she withered away as well.
