Two weeks had passed since I'd moved to Meadows Island. I'd come to the conclusion that I would need to allow myself to try to like this place if I didn't want to continue being miserable out here. Steve suggested that I try out for a local girls soccer club here in town. That was only after we found out that some of my paperwork at school had been lost and I wouldn't be able to start school until next week. He said that it would help me pass the time until school started. No one was ever home, so I decided to take his advice. I had been playing soccer since I was 3 so of course I ended up making the team.

In the short week and a half that I'd been practicing with the team, I had made some good acquaintances with some of the girls. Luckily some of them attended school at Meadows High, the school I would be going to, so that was a big plus for me.

It was already 4 o'clock today and I had done nothing but shower, eat, and sit around my room all day. My Uncle Ryan, Chris and Steve were at work- nothing new.

"Ugh!" I groaned as I threw myself back against my bed. I was so bored. I had been keeping myself busy this past week and a half with soccer practice, but today it was cancelled.

Practice usually started at 3, the field where we practiced was only two miles away from my house, so I would run there everyday and then either Chris or Steve would pick me up at 5:30, when practice was over. They would leave to go back to work after that. So, needless to say, just like with my Aunt Carol, I was always home alone.

I sat up in my bed and finally decided that I needed to get dressed for the day. I threw on a pair of black skinny jeans, a loose long sleeved maroon shirt, my black leather jacket, topped with a grey scarf and my charcoal colored boots.

After getting ready, I headed downstairs to the dining room, accompanied by my MacBook

After getting ready, I headed downstairs to the dining room, accompanied by my MacBook. 'I guess I could just browse through the Internet .' I sighed as I made my way toward a seat at the table. Nobody would be back home until about 10 tonight.

About 20 minutes later I heard a car pull up outside in the driveway. I got up from the table and peeked through the curtain that covered the window next to the front door of the house. The window was long and exposed the entire front yard and driveway.

'That's strange..' I thought as I watched a man climb out of the black BMW 428i that sat in the driveway. 'Nobody had said anything about having company over today..'

The man was wearing blue fitted jeans with a plain black t shirt and a pair of black converse.

I watched as he pulled out a black nike gym bag from his car and made his way to the front door of the house.

I made sure the door was locked before heading upstairs to grab my phone. I was going to call my Uncle to ask if he was expecting anyone here today, but as soon as I looked at my phone, I realized that I had three missed calls and a text message from Chris.

'Oops' I thought as I opened the text on my phone.

'Hey! A friend of mine is coming by the house to drop something off in my room. Let him in, please.'

'In his room?' I frowned. I shrugged as I clicked the reply button on my phone.

'Sorry I missed your calls. I left my phone upstairs. I'll let him in right now.' I texted back before heading downstairs to open the door for Chris' friend.

I heard the doorbell ring a third time as I made my way to the entrance of the house.

I opened the door to find Chris' friend pulling out his cell phone.

"Oh-" he slid his phone back in his pocket. "You must be Chris' cousin." He reached out to shake my hand, his fierce blue eyes meeting mine. I shook his hand, noticing his tight grip, his hands felt rough to the touch.

I nodded my head. "Leah." I spoke shyly.

"I just came by to drop this off." He pulled the gym bag up slightly, indicating that that was what he'd be dropping off.

"Yeah, I just got his text." I smiled, moving aside so that he could come in.

"Thanks." He said, making his way inside.

I got a whiff of his cologne as he walked past me, whatever it was, it smelled amazing.

"Do you know where his room is?" I asked.

"I do." He nodded his head. "Thanks." He spoke before disappearing down the hallway towards Chris' room.

After letting him in, I decided to make my way back to the dining room. I was playing an intense game of Tetris before I'd been interrupted by Chris' handsome friend.

'Oh, what my life has come to..' I thought as I took a seat back in front of my laptop.

It was 5:00 pm when I heard Chris pull up outside in his motorcycle. His no name friend had left about 2 minutes after he had arrived. He said a quick "See you later." to me before taking off.

"Leah!" Chris yelled out as soon as he made his way through the door. It was really odd that he was home this early.

"In the dining room!" I called out.

He quickly made his way into the dining room. He was wearing a pair of fitted black Levi's and a black leather jacket over a black t-shirt. "Did Gerald come by?" He asked, sounding a bit out of breath.

"Uh, I didn't get his name.." A slight frown made its way across my face as I continued to talk. "But a friend of yours did come by to drop a gym bag off in your room." I answered.

He pulled his phone out from his front pocket and cursed under his breath after taking a quick glance at the screen.

"Alright, thanks." He placed his phone back in his pocket. "I've gotta go take care of some stuff real quick. Steve should be home soon, though." He said before exiting the dining room.

"See you.." I said, watching as he walked away.

"Weird.." I mumbled to myself.
