The loud music roared in my ears as I made my way through the crowd. Heat radiated off of bodies. Girls and boys danced everywhere and the ones who weren't dancing were in the corner making out or someplace else doing who knows what. I look over to the side to a leggy blond straddling a guy in a chair off in the corner. Her hips moved against him as their tongues intertwined. Moaning escaped their lips and I was sure they were going to rip their cloths off of each other at any given moment. I hurried to get away from it all.

I finally found my way to the backyard for a breath of air. The cool crisp air welcomed me as I eagerly stepped out and away from the crowd.

"Hey Clair, what are you doing out here all alone? The parties inside?" My best friend Emma asked while she walks up to me with a red cup in her hand.

"I just needed a breather. You know I'm not much for parties." I say looking up at the Stars.

"Clair." She sighs. "Maybe you could try loosening up for like just one night? Like forget it all and go wild for once in your life?" She says exasperatedly.

"What are you talking about? I am wild! I'm here aren't I!?" I say gesturing to around me.

"Oh please your sitting outside alone. I don't exactly call that wild. And I doubt you've even looked at a drink tonight." She says crossing her arms in a sassy challenging manner. My face reddens because I know she's right and I hate it.

"So what, it's not my fault you dragged me here." I snap.

"Your mom said you had to get out and honestly your my best friend and I agree with her. You never go out with me or any of our friends anymore, and when you do, you separate yourself from everyone. It's time to stop and just live Clair."

"I'm sorry I'm just never in the mood." I say looking at her now.

"Will you ever be in the mood?" She asks.

"No..." I mumble as I look at the ground and shuffle my feet. she doesn't here me though.

She lets out a sigh of frustration and sadness.

"Are you going to be ok out here if I go back inside, because I take it your not going to come in with me?" She asks hoping that maybe I'll say yes.

"Ya I'll be fine, I like it here under the stars." I say smiling at her.

"Ok, I'll text you when I'm ready to go." She says. I only nod my head in her direction.

I sigh and shiver a little bit as a slight breeze whips around my bare arms. I forgot my jacket in room when I left my house and Im really starting to regret not remembering it. A few minutes later I hear the sliding door behind me ease open and shut but I don't bother to look behind me because I already know who it is.

"Emma I already told you I don't feel like coming inside." I say a bit to snappy while rolling my eyes.

"It's a good thing I'm coming to join you instead of asking you to come inside with me." A deep voice says. The air in my lungs gets stuck and I forget to breath. Oh no, that was not Emma. I stay frozen as a boy slides in to stand next to me. I manage to respond a beat to late.

"Oh...I'm so sorry I thought you were someone els!" I say embarrassed.

"It's ok I figured that much." He says with a smile.

"So tell me, does my party suck so much that you'd rather be out here in the cold than inside?"

"You threw this party?" I ask shocked, I hadn't even stopped to think about who's party we were at.
