The defenders, inspired by the message and history of the Vintage Vigilante's were now making their way back to the vault of vision - the black box where the Defenders Initiative all began.
Rapidly running, the defenders drifted and destroyed the path of fiends, shredding them into ruby pieces of flesh pudding. It became commonplace for BANG! to be heard as the lead ripped through the air...
"Scouts and scouts, all over again... It's getting boring!" shouted the dwarf in frustration; the Clark brothers quickly followed in regret:
"Why did you have to say that-" they were interrupted by a new wave of zombies surrounding them... They were known as grapplers. Stone in colour, stone in material. They were solid pieces of moving rock that worked in teams to sneakily surround their prey and murder them in cold blood.
Rough edges meant physical contact created floods of blood pouring out an ordinary human's skin - untouchable. They were walking tombstone's, ready to kill and mark their death as their own. Carmine orbs were those of Medusa - the sheer terror imposed by them could leave someone paralysed with fear.
"As I was saying... Why did you have to say that for?" Robin remarked while smacking his chilling hand on his equally frozen forehead.
"What are we going to do?" Parker questioned in a state of worry. The stone sentinels strolled closer and closer... Bullets bounced back, they had no effect. "Wait, I have an idea!" Parker skillfully retrieved a blade of steel from her rather large backpack, and starting slaying the beasts by cutting their joints; it was an execution.
Her sword screamed with laughter and joy. It was put out of it's misery of not being used. "What are you waiting for? Don't you guys have swords too?" Parker asked.
"You heard her." Tom voiced as he pulls out his minuscule knife and runs towards the wardens of rock. Everyone follows and within no time, the threat was terminated.
"Don't ever be bored again.." as George giggled, "Seriously though, don't." They progressed and progressed through the endless waves of aliens, each step was a step closer to their destination - is there destination death?
They were only a fourth into their perilous journey, and it lead them to the towering mountains. Ascending moderately, the thin mist wrapped around their heads, attacking their minds with cautious thoughts. Negativity swirled around where butterflies would, neon streaks in their eyes grew wider. It wasn't them, it was the pulse.
It wasn't a rarity, it was in the destiny of the stars; the corrupted destiny. At a time when the green glows of the stars touch each other like friends holding hands, the pain of roaming fiends are absorbed and the short-lived friendship is burned away to a crisp leaving the heartless emotions to be dispersed around the earth's magnetic flux.
Those with the strongest of wills weren't affected; those who are weak-willed leave their guard, and their positivist nature is trapped in the thickest walls imaginable. The heart is surviving on the leftovers of cold-blood. It was an organic hell for the heart.
The heart stills beats, and for every beat, encouragement towards a pragmatic will is protected no matter what. It is that makes the process of becoming a full zombified alien such a long one.
"We'll get through this." Tom declared willfully, he put his hands on the shoulder of Parker and Robin; thermal waves diffused to them, killing the corruption in their hearts and giving them a new stand. Everyone held each other, and the heat of their hearts melted away the snow around them, since they reached the sounding summit.
Strands of knife-like grass proudly stood up, waving with the wind. For the first time in forever, a luster of life roamed around - it showed that when humanity reached it's peak, it's then where they become the strongest. Powered by a new fuel of humanity, the Defenders sat down, lying on the grass, gazing to the infinite stars.
The fearsome five started to exchange their thoughts...
"There's six gems, but there's five of us?" Lewis uttered while counting to give with his stub fingers.
"Rob Murphy..." Parker, and the Clark Brothers bewilderingly stated, "he knew of us but we did not of the same..."
"Rob Murphy, he disappeared mysteriously." Tom voiced while thinking in his head... "There's five of us... The world isn't made up of five elements, it's made up of six. Have you guys seen or heard about any other survivors?"
"Nope." they all exclaimed. "There is someone... He saved my life, or she. I was surrounded by these joker zombies - they do stuff randomly - and he came from behind and shot them all. He then disappeared, weird." Parker followed with.
Suddenly, a guillotine blade of lightning thundered down in a rushed rampage of destruction. The raw beauty of the scene was transported into another dimension, bringing back a site of anguish and fire.
"We're running out of time. This beauty won't last forever, quick, we need to get to the vault!" Tom shouted while equipping his parachute glider. "Get onto your gliders, if you have one, if you don't, then buckle up."
Much to his amazement, everyone had some sort of aerial mobility device that would carry them over the winds at a decent pace. Tomas had a flashback to when he left the mountain on his glider to the black box, he was in the same situation, but this time with a team. With increased motivation, he and everyone took off and evaded the thunderstorm that chased them to the pinnacle of humanity.
The unreeling adventure that was to present itself became very short as the mountain gave a boost, a big boost. With the black box in sight, everyone dived down towards it. Out of the blue, a bolt of lightning pierced through Robin's parachute, causing him to fall just metres away from the black box into a treacherous forest.
The undergrowth soon exploded into a whirlpool of earth, and a hazel tornado of leaves and flesh swivelled into the air, catching the gliders and safely dropping them near the vault of vision. Everyone glanced towards the box, and were gobsmacked.
Shining infinitely through the thick black walls was a sepia glow that radiated a sense of strong foundation and strength. It was the Earth Gem; it was Robin's new partner....
