I'm learning more about Jerome every time I come here, and it's pretty funny. I shake my head before following him down the pretty vacant mid-day street. Trying to think about what words I should use to tell him. We really can't stay in this city for much longer. I can already tell things are starting to get shady.

"Hey Benja, what do you want to do?" Jerome calls, looking over his shoulder and casting me a smile. I don't know if he will be able to handle life outside of the city. He's too different...

"I don't know." I shrug and look around aimlessly.

"Come on! You have to want to do something!" Jerome states, nudging me with his elbow. "Lighten up a bit."

"I don't know what is considered fun here."

"So tell me then. What's fun in the wasteland?" He turns around to look at me, his arms crossed.

"Sparring with other wastelanders." I smile slightly. "Especially those who are experienced killers."

"All of you guys are seriously messed up in the brain." He shakes his head. Does he seriously think that?

"You've only met two. You can't base everyone off of just Woofless and I!" I state calmly.

"Three. I've met three wastelanders." Wait, what?! Who has he met?!?

"Who else?" My eyes widen with worry.

"A chick named Kaydee." Kaydee... no wonder her dog was out to get him.

"What were you doing talking to her? Do you understand how dangerous she is?!"

"Relax. It happened before I met you." He dismisses my worries with a wave of his hand, like it's nothing to worry about. If he keeps acting like this, he's going to get himself killed.

"Right." I sigh softly before shaking my head once more. "Anyways, you should choose what we're going to do. I haven't been here long anyways."

"But you're my guest! I insist-"

"Unless you insist on fighting a wild boar, I suggest you choose what we are going to do today."

"Wait, don't wild ones have tusks?"

"Yep."

"My choice it is!" He states, turning around quickly. I chuckle softly at him. Idiot. Shaking my head, I follow him as he takes off down the street yet again. I still need to tell him though. My only issue is how I'm going to tell.

"So let me get this straight." I lean forward in my seat, my elbows on the table in front of me. "You want me to steal a useless item that's apparently worth millions from a guy who is already suspicious of me? Why would you need a compass anyways? They make no sense."

"That's only because you don't know how to read them," Nooch states, crossing his arms. "The compass is one of the few things that survived the war. If we can get it, apparently it will lead us to the ultimate money load."

"Which is?"

"The diamond memorial plaque of an elite soldier." I raise an eyebrow. Diamond? How could anyone not find something made out of diamond? Let alone a plaque. Is it really that well hidden?

"Interesting." Just as I finish speaking, the door bursts open and a man rushes into the room.

"Sir! One of the new recruits was found dead at the western entrance to the city!" He states, out of breath.

"Which one?"

"The one you sent to scout for valuable items."

"What killed him?" Nooch asks, standing up.

"The marks indicate that it was a knife sir." Western entrance, and knives. I close my eyes and smirk slightly. Some idiot either threatened Craft, or was too stupid to live; maybe even both. Either way, Star definitely was the cause of this.

"Woofless, have you been along the western reaches?" Nooch looks at me with a serious expression.

"I have."

"And do you have any idea who might have done this?" Now why would I tell a spoiled brat like you? All I'm here for is capturing Benja. The money is an added bonus.

"No. No one comes to mind with the information he's given."

Nooch growls under his breath before turning back to the man. "Send a patrol out to the western wasteland. Have them search within a twelve mile radius. The culprit couldn't have gotten far." Culprits to be more precise. But he's right. Craft and Star don't usually leave the area of a crime they commit until a few days pass. But the thing is, these idiots won't even notice they're still there. Star is too smart to stay in the most obvious of places. No, he will go to where everyone least expects it. And that, is why he is a feared figure. Craft is only there for bragging rights.
