The smaller male gulped and looked up at the boy on his doorstep. He paid attention to everything, but Kageyama. The constant shuffling behind him, which was probably his mother freshening herself and the house just case Kageyama wanted to come in, his little sister complaining about being woken up, even the birds chirping outside. The noir haired boy noticed the other purposely avoiding his eye-line, watching his hazel eyes darting around him. A scoff rolled off his lips and he gave him a stern look.
"Ahem, Hinata I'm right here. I know you're avoiding even though I'm right here, dumbass.", he mumbled and crossed his arms over his chest, clearly showing some irritation. A small gulp was audible from the ginger boy, there was no escape. If he closed the door, his mother would chew him up and the tall boy was blocking his other, and only, escape.
"Hi, Hinata's friend, would you like to come in? It looks a little chilly out there.", Hinata's mother popped out from around the corner, offering warmly to the other. Hinata practically froze there stared at the floor.
He's going to find out. He'll hate you forever. You'll just be a monster to him.
So many negative thoughts clouded the boy's mind. Kageyama noticed the other's worry and politely declined the kind offer. He turned back to the orange haired boy in front of him, who definitely looked more relaxed, but not completely. This wasn't how his fried acted. He was so used to seeing Hinata as a determined ball of sunshine, but now the brightness was dimming, pouring out of him. He just looked like a dying star. He had to find out what was wrong. He didn't want to see someone so close to him look so down and so dim.
"I'm sorry." Hinata croaked out, on the urge of tears. He continued to look down, not wanting to meet the boy's eyes. He couldn't stand to lie to him. Especially not to his face.
"Why? Hinata, just tell me what's wrong... I can help you." Kageyama mumbled in a soft, comforting tone. He just wanted to help. He wanted to be a true friend to Hinata and help him through whatever was eating at him.
"I-I'm a gh-"
