I felt Matthew's eyes follow my every step as I walked over to Jackson's room.  "Bridgette?" He called out. I turned around and raised my head.  "Yes?" I asked.  Matthew stared at me and sighed. "Don't tell Jackson you went inside that bedroom—don't tell anyone."  "Of course, Sir—Matthew."  "Hey Matthew that dumbf*ck of what you call your son is outs-" Someone started as they made their way upstairs. I turned my head to the side and I gasped in confusion when I saw that it was the same mysterious boy from earlier. "-whoa" the boy stopped and stared at me looking at my body in a way that made me shiver uncomfortably. "Were you to banging or something because sh*t—props to you she's actually kind of hot." He looked between Matthew and I. "If she's not legal then I want her too because I'm legal."  "Bridgette I believe it's the unfortunate time for you to meet-" Matthew began staring at the boy in disgust. "-the pride and joy of our family, Jackson's brother–"  "What?" I interrupted rudely. "S-Sorry but Jackson has a brother?" I nearly shouted.  Matthew walked over to me and grabbed my hand. "Some things are better not mentioned, like the room for example." Matthew looked at the boy up and down and grimaced. "And that for example is something that shouldn't be mentioned. However under the given circumstances you are to meet-"  "Derek Ambrosia." Derek grinned holding out his hand which Matthew swatted away. Derek scoffed and rolled his eyes. "I'm not contaminated your prick."  I shook his hand. "I'm Bridgette, Jackson's girlfriend."  Derek's face fell but then lit up. "I was sad there for a second but I remembered my game is immortal so you'll be mine soon enough. And kudos to you, sticking with that weirdo is a job enough." Derek licked his lips and took a life sip from his cup. "See ya around love."  Matthew cleared his throat and shook his head. "I apologize for this menaces behavior."  "Don't call me a menace you murderer."  "Derek!" Matthew yelled loudly. "Don't make me kick you out!"  "Won't be the first time. Maybe you'll kill me too."  Suddenly a table came crashing down besides Matthew who panted heavily. I gasped clasping my had over my mouth. I clung onto to the wall and stared. in horror at the shards of glass that laid on the floor. I looked up at Matthew and then Derek. Derek rolled his eyes. "For f*cks sake at least try not to scare the girl. She's not mom. She's not going to keep quiet."  I looked at Matthew who tried to control his anger by tightening his fists. I gasped and held his hand. "M-Matthew, you cut yourself! Derek do you have a first aid kit?" I asked looking up at Derek.  "Yeah-" Derek began only to be interrupted by Matthew.  "Derek get her away from me."  I looked back at Matthew in confusion. "But Matthew you're hurt you need-"  "DEREK!" He roared thrashing his arm backwards causing me to fly into Derek's chest.  Derek looked at me angrily. "Follow me before I blow his f*cking head off." Derek grabbed my hand and walked me down the stairs and into his car. Derek was absolutely fuming and I was absolutely terrified. What was wrong with Matthew? Why was he so angry with the very mention let alone presence of Derek? What was going on with Derek? I silently stared at Derek who looked as if he squeezed his steering wheel any harder it would pop off. He was absolutely fuming in anger and it was rolling off in waves. Somehow we ended up in front of my house and silently got out not questioning once how he knew where I lived.  "Tha-okay." I stood awkwardly in my driveway as Derek sped off into the night.  I walked into my house and entered my bedroom. I slid onto my bed and let out a deep breath before I fell into the deep abyss of unconsciousness.  ****  My phone blared for the what was the thousandth time this morning and I groaned taking the pillow off of my head. "Hello?"  "Jesus—Bridgette where the hell are you?" Jackson yelled onto the phone.  I got up and looked at the time. "Home, it's six in the morning Jackson."  "Why'd you leave?"  "Um.." I trailed off recalling the events from the night prior. "Stomachache, bad one." I lied. "And you disappeared, it was weird."  "Don't leave like that, everyone always leaves like that." He replied. "Keep your phone on—I mean it Bridgette." Jackson commanded.  "I will, gosh what's gotten into you this morning?"  "Nothing." Jackson sighed. "Hey, remember it's Friday."  "Of course." I smiled. "Date night on game night." We said simultaneously falling into a set of laughs. "I can't wait to see you be amazing both on the field and-"  "In bed?"  "Jackson it's not April Fools Day."  "Rest in peace my ego."  "Right?" I giggled sarcastically. "Are you okay?" I asked turning to a rather serious note.  "Bye."  "Jackson I can hel-" I sighed when I realized he had already hung up. I rubbed my forehead in frustration. I just wanted I help him because he needed it. Jackson didn't know what it was like having to pick up the fragments and tiny pieces left of him when he had found out about his mother. He couldn't act like it hadn't happened, suppressing what he felt wouldn't help at all.  I trudged my way to the bathroom and quickly showered. I slipped into a bright floral dress and a pair of flats. I grabbed my backpack and skipped my way down the stairs.  "Mor-" I scrunched my nose when I walked into an empty kitchen. I sighed and picked up the note underneath my keys.  'Bridgette,  Your mother and I had to leave quite early this morning. We'll be home by dinner, don't be late. -Love, Dad'  I smiled happily. At least they would be here for dinner, maybe we could actually use the dining table for once rather than just as a showpiece.  I grabbed my keys and piled my cheer bag into my car. I blared the radio and sang along to some music that I was sure would qualify as porn audio but instead was characterized as rap. I turned it down when I entered the school parking lot. Viroid Academy was a school that specialized in academics and athletics and therefore they unleashed the utmost fury on anything that could seem degrading. Viroid Academy was the home to a few of the richest students in the state, perhaps the country. My parents went here, grandparents, and even their parents. Viroid was your typical prep school with the exception of uniforms but if you looked closely it was evident, the girls wore dresses and the boys wore slacks. We looked like young married couples of some sorts. It was a bit cult like even. Viroid had a long history of exceptionally successful students and that they gave special privileges to and somehow Jackson was the pride and joy of that history and decided to bring me up with him.  I parked my car and made my way to Jackson who sat on the hood of his car talking to a few friends. His friend Ian whispered in his ear and Jackson turned around and smirked. "Well boys I've got to go, my girl is here."  I blushed and giggled kissing his cheek. "You're too sweet."  Jackson shrugged. "Bridgette I actually wanted to talk to you about sweet."  "Jackson if you break up with me at school then don't doubt me for a second when I say I will sue."  Jackson chuckled. "Actually it was about Derek-" I stiffened. "-I'm assuming by the looks of it that you two met last night. As you can see he's a bit twisted, my father and him aren't the best of friends which I'm also assuming you know from the broken table. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. My parents didn't want me to."  I licked my lips and nodded not daring to bring up the fact that it was incredibly odd that he had hidden the fact he had a brother for so long. "Y-Yeah but I'm sure it's nothing too bad. Everyone has family small issues once in a while."  Jackson tsked. "Small is one way of saying it."  "Jackson I actually wanted to—" I stopped myself. "-sorry nothing, just know that if you ever need to talk that I'm right here. I know with your mother passing so suddenly it must be difficult."  Jackson's expression morphed into a blank stare. "I don't want to talk about that, ever."  "But Jackson-"  "Drop it."  "I-"  "Bridgette-" he grabbed my arm tightly and stepped up causing me to hit my back against his car. He pushed me against his car a bit harder and glared at me. "-drop it."  "Bu-"I stopped myself before protesting and I sighed instead. "O-Okay, sorry."  Jackson seemed as if he had been woken up from a dream. He looked down at his hand that was holding my upper arm tight enough to leave handprint mark in purple. "I-uh-sorry I didn't even realize I was holding you so tight. I sorta just—I don't know.." He trailed off letting me go.  "I-It's fine, really." I nodded. "Let's get to class." I chirped grinning. "Ready for the game?" I asked trying to change the subject as we walked to class.  Everything would be fine, nothing has changed.
