Every writer who shares their creativeness online probably has come across what I call "writing snobs." These people believe they know all about writing and make mean and snide comments to other writers.
These people, for some reason, find comfort in making people feel wrong about their writing. So they make comments like "this is stupid" or "none of this makes any sense and is pointless!" (both of these are remarks posted on a friend of mine's posts).
It's not always clear why one would get comfort in doing this to someone, but I believe it makes them feel superior when they don't think that special in their own lives. (Yes, I am aware that makes me sound judgmental, but I am not trying to be).
If you are one of these people, know that you do indeed hurt people with these comments. It is like saying their thoughts and who they are as individuals and writers are stupid. No one likes to feel that way, and I can tell you that I know you don't want to feel that way, either. So why make others feel that way?
Writing is about expressing one's self and being able to connect to others in a mutually loving way. Instead of criticizing everything you can, try giving pointers to the person. Tell them a way that may portray their vision a little bit clearer to their audience. Show them someone cared enough to take the time to read their work. Being rude doesn't help but make them too insecure about writing publicly anymore, which ruins the purpose of sites like Wattpad. Don't ruin someone's way of expression. Be a good person.
