Chapter 3 - So Far So Good

Short!? How dare he! You did not just say that to me, mister! I'll admit I'm a bit below average but no one says 'You're short' out of nowhere! I'm not going down that easily. I looked at him in the eye and rolled my eyes. "Oh, thank you! Obviously I was never told that I was short for these last 15 years of my life! And I've, surely, never seen a mirror in my whole entire life so it would've been impossible for me to know how short I am! So thank you, captain obvious," I sarcastically said. After I said that I smirked at his face and snickered.

He seemed to have caught my drift and he glared at me. He turned and leaned his ear against me and beside it he curved his hand and then he replied, "Say what shorty? I couldn't hear you from up here so I have some trouble hearing," he teased. Oh, it's on! I turned to Amy and whispered loudly enough for this 'Jack' to hear. "Amy, I think you need to get a new boyfriend. He seems to be going increasingly deaf by the second!" Amy looked at both of us and laughed, "Geez, you two are just too hilarious. I'm glad you two could become friends so quickly!" She giggled. I turned my head and forced a smile for Jack and held out my hand while, "Let's get along, Jack" he grabbed my hand tightly and shook it "Sure thing, Shorty". After that word rang through my ears, I threw glares at him getting annoyed. "My name is Alice!" I shouted, "Sure thing Shorty" he replied.

Amy told me to follow her and Jack as they lead me to where they sit. Finally, arriving to their table, I looked at Amy and aimed to sit next to her, but Jack beat me to it. It does make sense after all. I mean, they're a couple. I took the seat in front of Amy and looked around. There were a few seats left, and I was kind of confused. "Hey, isn't this table a bit too big for only three people?" I inquired. She looked at me and quickly swallowed her food. "Oops. Sorry. I forgot to tell you that there are two more boys who sit with us," she apologised. I got a bit excited to meet more new people and possibly make friends with them. You have actually met both of them today during science," she added.

I paused and thought for a minute. Let's see two boys I met today. Oh I know! "Is it -" before I could answer her, she cut me off. "In fact here's one of them. Hey, Allen!" she shouted. She waved her hand to get the attention of the male figure. I looked around to find one of the boys I've just met. I saw the boy who sat next to me during art walking towards us. So his name is Allen. That's a cool name. Just then I realised that this could be my chance to do him a favour! Another thing I realised was the fact that this would make a whole lot more awkward. As he finally came to the table, he sat to the chair right next to mine. Just my luck.

I must've had a weird face, 'cause I could hear snickers from Jack. I let out a sigh and kicked him hard across the table. "Oy, that hurts!" He complained, while looking at me and I glared back at him. "Why are you accusing me?~ I mean I'm too short to kick you after all," I mocked. Although when I said that he smiled, "so you admit yourself that your short, shorty?" He teased back. "My name is ALICE!" I shrieked. Obviously, he didn't care and just stuck out his tongue.

"So you're name's Alice?" I turned my head and locked eyes with Allen. Again, not knowing where my voice went I just nodded my head. "I see, what a coincidence! I never knew the person next to mat at art, was friends with Amy and Jack!" He said. "Actually, Alice and I just met today, she's a new student," Amy added. Allen had a moment of silent thought, analysing the information he had just gained. He looked at me and smiled "If that's so that then welcome to Viitor High School" he welcomed with a warm voice. The type of voice you would hear from your mother.

I felt all fuzzy and happy inside for some reason, but I didn't express it. Instead, the way I expressed it was, you guessed it, a nod. Of all people, why? Why did he just have to resemble my ex? NO! He is not my ex, he is a nice person like my ex, who just looks like my ex, and is tall as my ex... Yeah, no matter how much I try he just looks like my ex. How can I do this? I already have my plate full for doing him a favour but to also fix the problem of him looking like my ex is too much. Alright, then let's first focus on doing him a favour.
