Lucas
Lucas’s first few hours had swept past at the speed of a freight train- first he’d woken up and been interrogated to the near point of breakdown (not his favourite moment so far) and then he was led to a ‘session’ which he had no idea what was about because he was so panic stricken at the ugly man’s face who interrogated him that he had lost the ability to listen to simple instructions.
Considering the current global welfare (the end of the world), he was pretty comfortable with his situation; it beat a lot of things he would’ve probably been doing if he didn’t have the mission to deal with. It was pretty cool in a way- him and group of kids his age have the responsibility to save the world.
He didn’t fully get the deal of the mission- just that there were five in it and that they had no choice. Lucas didn’t mind, might as well get the job done because there’s no use in complaining about something you can’t do anything about.
Then he met Robyn, a small girl his age with brown wispy hair and glassy auburn eyes. His first instinct of course was to make conversation-I mean, he couldn’t have made it any more awkward considering they were in a changing room, and luckily it went well; he officially made a friend.
Got to be some kind of record with the fact his life basically started a few hours ago.
Lucas was happy with the new start, being without memory he didn’t have to worry about parents woo! Or responsibility! Hooray! Wait, yes he did have responsibility- he had the weight of saving the whole friggin’ world on his shoulders.
He sighed heavily and carried on down the hallway, Robyn tagging along close behind his heels
“What’s wrong?” asked Robyn as she skipped ahead of him.
“Oh nothing, just the weight of the world on my shoulders” Lucas shrugged like he didn’t give a damn “You know I have to save the world even though I can’t remember who I was and I woke up four hours ago in a chair and was like interrogated by the ugliest man I’ve ever laid eyes on”
“Not just you,all of us have to save the world- well, whoever the rest of us are. So stop playing the sympathy card when we’re all going through the same thing” Robyn replied with shielded irritation. How could he be so stupid? She was going through the same thing
“Sorry, I didn’t mean-Never mind…” Lucas sighed again. Great he looked like a total douche now.
“Don’t worry, it’s understandable- can’t blame you to be honest but its best to just get on with it now I mean we don’t have memory so we can’t return to past, we’ll just have to carry on forward to wherever or shall I say ‘whenever’ they take us” Robyn gestured to the two guards in white soldier suits guarding the entrance to their training room. Lucas knew she wasn’t just talking about the guards, she meant all the white guys.
They entered swiftly avoiding the guards gaze as they did so. The training room was huge, literally the biggest room Lucas had ever seen, and glancing at Robyn who was looking around mouth opened in an astounded expression he could tell that she felt the same way.
“Oy! You two! What are you doing? Your one minute fifty five seconds late! Now line up along the rest before I lose my temper!” Lucas nearly shot back through the door at the whistled high voice of the terrifying woman who stood in the centre of the room. How could someone that small make a noise that loud?
In front of the woman stood two other girls and one other boy all standing straight like soldiers along a straight white line. Each had a serious gaze and their arms locked behind their backs. Robyn and Lucas quickly joined their ranks and copied their actions as best they could.
