AU: sooooo, this poem, as you can see, is going to be a poem about "Hope", and how this originated was a during the second semester of school this past year (before I graduated) the teacher had something where every few assignments we'd do a poetry assignment and we'd be given the honor of writing a poem. one of the requirements on the list was to have 3 drafts for the poem. me, not thinking about it, wrote 3 poems, instead of 3 drafts for 1 poem XD we were given the topic of reading off of other poets for inspiration, and so I went and looked from Artistiqque and her poetry book titled "Wings To Let You Fly" and I found a poem titled "Hope." I thought it to be a magnificent poem, and with her permission, I wrote from it to gain inspiration for my responses, and so here at this link you can find the poem! :D https://www.wattpad.com/141124899-wings-to-let-you-fly-hope
enjoy both mine and also her poetry! :)

response one:

But I see no light,
either shining from the sun at day,
or the stars at night,
and by the time the sun has set,
the darkness will have engulfed my thoughts.

the path up ahead had no definition of clear,
the glass stained, cracked, and if I ran
the risk of running on rocky roads would be great.
why should I start just to chicken out?
why go somewhere I know I won't make it to?

what is this happiness you speak of?
what is the abundancy of joy?
how can I laugh when sadness glues my lips shut and my tongue won't loosen?
this hope you speak of, I know of no such thing,
but my heart yearns for the feeling.

response two:

what is this hope you speak of,
does it taste of sweetness?
will my emotions be filled with joy,
after biting into the crisp and juicy outside
of this astonishing fruit?

this "man of hope" that you speak of,
how strong is he?
can he lift as much as twenty-five thousand tons off of my shoulders
as the same God of Abraham did when bringing men unto repentance
and they were freed from bonds of iniquity?

if this is true,
show me this man,
show me this hope,
for I feel the need to be renewed for a state of happiness
that I have wished and longed for.

response three:

I know what you know,
I have seen what you have seen,
my ears have heard what you have heard,
and my hands have felt the tragedy occurring in life
long enough to know what ailments await later in life.

like the change in daylight,
from day to night,
I have been afraid of the dark every time it turns dusk
and I have been waiting, and waiting
for the day to turn to a new dawn once again.

the road to despair is no longer a trail to destruction for me.
this long and winding path has now become a sea of unending hope, as you speak of.
I have not once stopped to take a drink of the dirty water,
but I have allowed the mist to hit my face,
and yet through hope, I feel alive and free.
