Chapter 10
Nightmares Come True
Sapp sits at the table of their motel room eating a bowl of cereal with powdered milk in her camo pajamas as Sam and Amanda walk into the room.
"Mommy! Yogi!" She giggles and waves, Sam kisses her head and holds onto her
"Good morning Sapp" He smiles and pats her head "whatcha having?"
"Cereal I found in one of the rooms while you and mommy were dancing in the truck"
Both Amanda and Sam blush brightly. She clears her throat and smokes awkwardly "is it good Sweetie?"
She nods happily and takes another bite, wiggling in her seat
"Um, Sapp? Your mother and I have something to tell you" Sam said while sitting next to Sapp, Amanda sitting across from Sam
"What is it Yogi?" She drinks the milk out of her bowl and pushes it away from her
"Well. Sam and I have been talking and you know how you were asking who your daddy was?" Amanda spoke up as Sam anxiously played with his thumbs
"Mhm" She sighs and does exactly the same thing Sam is doing without knowing it
"Well, when you were in my tummy, your father went away to fight people in a different country. He eventually came back but got into a car accident which put him in a coma"
"Just like Yogi!" She giggles and keeps playing with her thumbs
"Exactly. Sapphire, Yogi is your Daddy" Amanda said hesitantly
Sapp looks at Sam as he looks over at him with an off-putting expression. She walks over to him and hugs him tightly, tears filling her eyes as she begins to cry. Sam hugs her back as he blinks away the tears
"I'm sorry for not being here for you Sapphire. If I knew what would happen, I would have stayed with your mother and never leave the country"
She nods "But you didn't know, and you were doing what you thought what was right" she hops into his lap as he wraps his arms around him, Amanda joining the hug-orgy
"So..what should I call you?" Sapp asked Sam as he pokes her cheek
Sam shrugs and smiles "what ever you feel comfortable with"
She ponders for a second and smiles "I like Yogi and Daddy!" She giggles and leans into him
"Your mother used to call me that before everything fell apart" he looks over at Amanda and kisses her nose
"Daddy? May we go fishing?"
Sam nods and pats her head "whatever you want, I'll need to find fishing supplies tho"
"I'll help you! Let's go!" She jumps out of his arms and runs out of the door to the truck, Amanda looks at Sam and smiles "I've never seen her this happy"
Sam kisses her, pulling her towards him by the waist
"It's because she finally has the family she has always dreamed of"
"I love you Samuel" Amanda looks him in the eyes and smiles
"I love you too Amanda"

[4 Hours Later]
"Have you ever been fishing, Sapp?" Sam says while pulling up to a lake near a farm not to far away to the Motel
She shakes her head and looks at him "No, but mommy says it's really fun"
Sam unbuckles his seatbelt and jumps out of the truck, grabbing most of the supplies like a 5 gal bucket, rods, tackle box and rope. He sets up all their stuff as he hands Sapp her rod
"I'll show you how to bait your hook" He grabs a worm and pierces the hook through it, looking up at her and laughs when he sees her discussed look on her face
"Now throw the hook into the water and wait for a fish to bite" He smiles as he sets up his rod. Attaching a lure to the line and casting out into the water.
Sapp casts her line out into the water and sits on the ground, watching Sam fish
"Daddy? Did you get anything?"
Sam looks at Sapp with an old Fishing rod in his hands, dragging the bait through the water
"Not yet sweetheart, the fish are being stubborn"
She pouts and crawls into his lap, the sun shining in a cloudless sky, the water rippling from the gentle breeze in the air. Sam kisses Sapp's head as he casts out his line again
"Daddy? I have to tell you something" she said while hugging Barky, a gray and white stuffed wolf with a small red bandana around its neck
"Yes princess?" He said slightly concerned
"I love you!" She giggles and leans into him, letting Sam pet Barky
"I love you too" he said while stroking his head. The pole began to bend as a tug was felt throughout the rod. Sam started reeling in as Sapp was giggling and cheering Sam on.
"Here, Start reeling babygirl" he puts Sapp's hand on the reel as she began to bring the fish in. Sam has his hand gently over hers as the fish was brought up into land, flopping around in the tall pond side grass. Sapp runs up to see her catch while Sam follows
"Daddy! It's a Bass right?"
He nods while picking it up by the mouth "Do you know what type?"
She giggles in excitement as Sam hands her the fish "Its a largemouth Daddy, they like shade and hiding spots!"
Sam smiles brightly while taking out his knife "you're becoming quite the Angler aren't cha?"
"Mhm!-" Sapp face instantly went from extremely happy to scared in in shock, a loud thundering sound rolls across the fields as she flops down into the grass, her shirt increasingly getting stained with crimson red. Sam looks at her in horror as he grabs her in his arms. Her face and chest covered in blood. Sam bolts up with Sapp in his arms and runs to the truck. He rips off his shirt and presses it over her wound, quickly driving back to the Motel. Once they get back, He kicks open the motel door with Sapp limp in Sam's arms. He knocks everything off the table and lays her down. Amanda runs out with her revolver pointed at Sam as she sees Sap laying limp on the table. He rips off her shirt and looks at Amanda
"Medkit, Now!" He snaps as she nods, tossing it to him from the bathroom. He takes the bullet out of her chest with tweezers and stitches the wound together. He lays her down onto the bed she slept on and takes out an IV and punctures it into his arm, filling the bag with his blood.
"Sam!" Amanda shouts at him, he glances back and puts the IV into her arm, covering the needle with tape and drops to his knees to the ground. Amanda rush over to Sam and holds him tightly, watching Sapp struggle breathing. He watches her while holding her hand, smearing blood on her.
"It happened...the Dream...I should have said no..she got shot everything happened exactly like the dream..."
She shakes her head and holds him "this isn't you fault, you had no control, just go lay down"
He keeps kneeling next to Sapp "I'm staying here" he strokes Sapp's hair out of her face while tears roll down his face. "I'm not leaving"
