Lord Phantomhive gave me a questionable look. "Milady, are you alright?" I blinked slowly then gave him a warm smile "Yes, my lord. I just remembered I had to meet up with someone. It was an honor to meet you my lord. Farewell." I dashed around the corner down the hall. My angel instincts kicked in signaling unnatural activity or "life" changing mishap nearby. Running through the hallways and corridors I stop when I heard voices near me.
Three men were huddled around a bedroom door and began banging on it."Lord Marsh! Open this door this instant!!" I stood behind the wall and listened carefully. It was dead silence until I heard an explosion come from the hallway. I turned on my heel noticing that the men had collapsed and were unconscious. Down the hall with several bags of jewels and... Thomas Marsh. The clock I passed earlier said it was 7:15. Thomas' life was coming to a close. Where's Lindsay?! I ran after him. Lucky enough for me, being an angel has its perks. Ending up in front of him, he trips making the bags fall letting their contents out. He snarled and quickly got on his feet. "You stupid girl!! You should mind you own damn business!" I gritted my teeth as I tried to figure out what to do. Where the hell is this girl?!? The thief standing in front of me got frustrated with my presence and swung his left hand at me. Dodging it, I smirked. Maybe I can buy myself some time. Trying my best to move swiftly without looking suspicious, I backed away from him more and more. Thomas stopped in his tracks and begun panting. He glared at me with hatred in his eyes. "Foolish brat!!" He pulled a pistol from his back pocket and pointed it directly at me. My eyes widen, pretending to be afraid. "This is the end for you missy.." He grinned.
"Actually, it's your time Thomas Marsh." A familiar voice rung from behind Mr. Marsh. The old man's eyes widen in shock. "I'm not going alone!" Suddenly, I heard a loud bang as I quickly saw the horrid man pull the trigger. Jolting backwards, I expected to hit the floor. Instead two strong arms caught me before I could. Looking up, I saw that it was the demon from earlier. W-Why is it touching me?!? He stared at me for a moment as I stared back. I began to realize that this demon was actually well-groomed and... attractive?! Emm.. no. Don't be foolish. I looked away from his gaze to see Thomas Marsh was laying dead on the floor. "Sebastian.. gently place Lady Grey down already!!" The demon did as he was told and went beside the young Earl. Hmm? He obeys a child?! Lord Phantomhive walks up to me. "Are you alright?" I nod and smile. "Yes, thank you." The Earl sighs and turns to the demon. "Lady Grey this is my butler. Sebastian-"
"Michealis. I believe we had the pleasure of meeting already." I cut the earl off. The demon smirks. Earl Phantomhive cocks an eyebrow and placed both hands on his cane while studying his butler. Suddenly Lindsay, arrives and collects the soul right in front of us. The young lord looks at me questioningly. After the soul is collected into Lindsay's scythe, she looks at me grinning like a child. I cross my arms staring at her bitterly. "I see you have met the young Earl.." she says happily, "Isn't he adorable?!" The demon chuckles as the Earl becomes flustered. Avoiding the topic, Lord Phantomhive clears his throat. "Lindsay, Is this the friend whom you spoke to me about?" I glance over at Lindsay puzzled. "Of course." She placed a hand on my shoulder with a closed eye smile. I moved my head back and forth between the two. "Huh??"
The young Earl looks up to me and sends a small smile. "Very well. Lady Grey, I would appreciate it if you would consider working with me and I will grant you a place to stay." I bat my eyes then switch my eyes to Lindsay who has disappeared from my sight. Damn reaper!! I turn back to the Earl. "T-That won't be necessary my lord. I wouldn't want to be a burden." The Earl shakes his head sightly and snickers. "You see I hear you are quite skilled and is in need of a place to stay. I would gladly help you out as a favor to Lindsay." I huff feeling defeated with no other choices. I curtsied, "Yes, my lord. Thank you, it will be a pleasure working with you." He turns and begins walking down the hall. "Come now, it's getting late. We should be heading home now."
Home.. Never thought I would hear that word again.
We stroll out of the mansion towards the Earl's carriage. The demon drives taking us away from the Cunningham mansion. The sun had set making the horizon green and blue as the night was so close. The horses galloped through the empty road. The Earl sat in front of me, yawning each minute. He's so young; a bit too young to be attending such parties. That eye patch I begun to wonder what was wrong with his eye. Soon, we arrived at the large estate. The Earl slowly closed his eye and rubbed it. He is quite cute when he's sleepy. I chuckled alarming the lord. "Hmm? Oh.. we're almost there." The carriage stopped as the demon butler opened the door and let the slothful earl out. After the young lord was out, the demon held his hand out to me. I refused it and stepped out following the Earl. The demon had a confused look baring his face. Why is he looking at me like that? Lord Phantomhive walked into the manor as his butler lit a candelabrum. We walked through a flight of stairs and through a few hallways. The tired Earl led me to a door with the demon behind me, which made me quite uncomfortable. "You'll be staying in one of our guest rooms. I hope it meets your standards. Sebastian, will assist you if you need anything." As Lord Phantomhive spoke the demon opened the door for me. "Thank you, Lord Phantomhive." I curtsied and walked in the bedroom as the butler closed the door behind him.
The room was painted a dark grey. The bed had blue sheets and white furniture stood around the room. A night stand by the right side of the bed, dresser, tall mirror and a wardrobe in the corner of the room. There was a door at the end of the room by the dresser. Guess that's the bathroom. Yawning, I sat on the edge of the bed. I looked down at the dress feeling uncomfortable. At the moment, a knock welcomed the room. "Yes, come in." The butler came in standing tall. "I just came to inform you, milady, that in the dresser you will find night gowns to sleep in.." I stand up then cautiously walk over to the dresser. I pull the drawer open and pull out a short, black night gown. Within, a moment, I felt a chill down my spine. The demon was right behind me. He took deep breaths then snickered. I turned to face him and his crimson eyes glowed as he placed a finger under his chin. "My my, so I did smell a heavenly scent after all." I kept quiet as I stepped further back having my legs hit the base of the bed.
The demon adjusted his gloves, taking a few steps forward smirking. I stand my ground even though my instincts is to not cause trouble. "I assumed you were an angel when I encountered you at the ball. But your angel aura was hardly there. He leaned in closer and took another whiff of me. "What are you really and why are you here??" His face was so close to mine, I could feel his breath against my nose. He's taunting me. I should reveal myself before anything gets messy.. I sighed and looked him straight in the eyes, which no angel dared to do with a demon. "I'm a fallen angel." The demon took a step back then examined me. He crossed his arms firmly in front me and tilted his head dumbfounded. "Fallen Angel?? I see.. What is it you're trying to do here?" Defeatedly, I looked to the floor then back to the demon. "I'm making a new life for myself. The angels are worse than humans. I saw the opportunity to see this world once again, humans are interesting beings who I would like to live among again. You wouldn't understand." I looked into his eyes as they glowed once more. Why is he doing that? Silently, the demon walked to the door without looking back at me. "I could care less about your reason to stay here. But if you lay a finger on the young lord, it will be my pleasure to send you back where you belong." He turned and gave me a soft smile. "Rest well, Lady Grey." With those words, he left the room. Taking a deep breath, I changed into the night gown that was clutched in my hand. He was testing but that's not the end of it. I thought I was done for..
Soon after I fell asleep.Sebastian's POV
Foolish angel. What is she thinking living in this world freely?? I sigh walking through the hallway to the library. Placing the candelabrum on the coffee table, I stare at the books. "Keep an eye on her. She doesn't look trustworthy. As a favor to Lindsay, I owed her. Don't let her out of your sight until we are fully sure of what she is capable of." The young lord's words ring through my head. There is something about this maiden or correction, fallen angel. She doesn't seem dangerous although I could be wrong. But angels should not be trusted especially around the young lord. Why live in a world where you must always look over your shoulder? My curiosity perks as I question myself. Well.. let's see what will come of you, Amilie Grey.Geez.. this took a while to write at one point I thought I had to give up. Well I didn't!! Hahah!!! *blames the coffee* Anyway, hope you enjoyed this chapter there is still more to
come. Till next time ~ ❁
