The halls slowly began crowding as the first period bell rang. I tried my best to get as fast as I could to class, but it was just to crowded. People pushed me, shoved me, and even tried to trip me. But finally after what seemed like forever, I finally made it to science.
Of course when I entered, all stares were on me. Whispers and snickers began filling up the air as I passed by, and sat down, in the back of the class. All seats were empty next to me because nobody wanted to sit next to a, "loser."
As the teacher walked in, all whispers stopped, and everyone faced forward. "Hello Children!" The teacher said loud enough to break our ears. "Hello Mrs. Johnson" We all said in unison. She sat down at her seat, and smiled. "Now, as you all remembered, you had homework last night, I'm sure you all did it, so hand it to me."
They all began getting up and handing their papers to Mrs. Johnson, Except me.
As Amanda sat back in her seat, she turned to me, and smirked. "Uh Mrs. Johnson, that idiot back there didn't turn in her homework!" She said.
Again, all eyes were on me, and whispers filled the air. Mrs. Johnson looked at me, and then at Amanda. "Well Amanda, her name is Chris, not. "idiot" And besides, Mrs. Muir has already turned in her homework, she finished it yesterday, along with extra credit. So stop sticking your nose in others lives, and focus on your own!" Mrs Johnson said.
Amanda immediately wiped the smirk off her face, and turned around, including everyone else. I gave Mrs. Johnson a smile, and she returned one right back.
As the second period bell rang, I waited for everyone to leave so I wasn't able to be spat at, or be called names at. As soon as the last person left, I got up, and made my way to the door. Before I could exit, Mrs. Johnson called me. "Chris, can you come here for a second?" She said sweetly.
"Yes ma'm" I replied. I marched over to her desk, and stood right next to her. She looked up at me, and gave me a smile. "Is everything alright with you and Amanda? Is she giving you any type of problems?" She said, keeping eye contact.
"Uh, no ma'm, everything is okay." I replied.
She looked at me with worry in her eyes, "Are you sure?" She said.
I nodded my head in reply.
She gave me on last smile, and shooed me away to my next class. The halls weren't that crowded this time, so I had to thank Mrs. Johnson the next time I saw her. Second, and third period was the usual.
So when the lunch bell rang, my stomach churned. Lunch was always the same, I sat as far away as possible, trying not to be noticed.
I slowly opened the doors, and was greeted by loud commotions, and laughters. Some people saw me, and gave me dirty looks. Others just glanced. I got my food as quick as I could, and made my way to the back corner.
Alone.
Lunch period was the only time I could listen to music. It made me feel better, and not so useless. I popped in my ear phones, and picked out a song. "Alone, By Sleeping With Sirens."
As the lyrics ran through my head, I began eating my mashed potatoes. The lunch ladies were fat, but they sure knew how to make food.
The rest of the day was just filled with more insults, pushing, shoving, laughing, whispering, and ugly stares. I literally jumped out of my seat when the bell rang to go home. I plugged back in my ear phones, and drowned my thoughts.
Hopefully tomorrow isn't as horrible as today, who am I kidding?
Everyday is terrible! The only escape is music, and home.
